San francisco east bay!!! Whats up

Hey everyone my name is Fernando I ride fixed Everyday. I dont see to many post about the east bay. I want to do some group rides, events, races whatever I just love riding my bike. I go to college at Chabot In Hayward.

So anyone know any good events or anytihng going on this weekend?

I would love to put together a huge group ride if anyones down(track-fixed-ss-10spd whatever you ride). i usually go ride with friends on thursdays or fridays. Not everyone rides fixed-and they dont need to.

Lets ride!!!

Have you ever heard of Area Cycles in Castro Valley (it's only a tad bit northeast of downtown Hayward)? Well that's the fixed gear shop/ place for the southern east bay & tri valley. There are fixed rides every Tuesday night at around 7pm or earlier if kenji closes up shop early.

iMiNUSD is a pretty nice shop in San Jose. I like Area Cycles in Castro Valley a lot, too.

I have been to both;
Imuinusd is more of an upscale bike store, that carries a lot of high end expensive bikes and parts (tech monies lol), but more focused on fixed/ track/ tarck.

Area cycles is perhaps the most down to earth LBS I've ever been to honestly; they will not look you down or think less of you if you ask stupid questions. Plus service and attention is great; forgot to mention labor/ installation is free with purchase.

Yea, iMiNUSD is pretty expensive. And the customers that hang around there sometimes don't make me feel welcome, I don't know why, but maybe it's because they stare. LOL Don't get my wrong, the people that work there are very helpful and nice.

But you are right about Area Cycles. Kenji is really nice, and very helpful. He knows his stuff, and won't try to sell you something just to make a buck.

im not ever going to imd.

look at their flickr, their celebratory ride included riding naked, taking dumps on peoples front doorsteps, and making out with cats. no joke.

Meh it's just a publicity stunt...

Funny you mentioned to this; as I had a conversation with kenji before about publicity; he said he is in no way as showy as iminusd is.
