Whats your budget? What do you plan on using the bike for? Do you have any friends that are good mechanics? Are you already a regular cyclist, looking for your first fixed gear? Or will this be your first bike in a long time? Where do you live?

Im still amazing people think they can accurately help some one pick a bike knowing nothing about the person, and what they want the bike for.

I'd just like a fixie to ride around on. I wanna get outta the house sometimes, and not just stay confined to my home, cooped up like a chicken -____-

So I'm down to the Tomcat or the Kilo TT.

I dunno about all these cool looking bikes coming out with sharp colors and bright wheels... All my bikes look like they've been ridden on Arrakis by the time i clean them. I prefer to get something I wont be scared of scratching or abusing (unintentionally).

If you're a fair weather rider, however, then go with that kilo or the bike for giants. They Look nice and sleek, and they come stock with brakes, which may be important if you truly are a first time fixie rider.

How does the Kilo compare to the Tomcat in terms of specs? Say, how do the frames differ?

Kilo has a better qc, Plus. Buying from a trusted. well more trust worthy dealer is always a plus.

Lets say you get your box kick from shipping and your rim gets bent. Bikes direct will replace it. ebay? good luck.

Yeah, i would suggest going with the Kilo just based on the website. The fact that the frame doesn't say Mercier kind of bugs me, though. But then again I have no idea what's going on with Mercier as a company anymore. I do know they rely on Reynolds 520, which is a pretty strong but light alloy.

Not to mention the Tomcat is made by the same company which manufactures those folding bikes, "Yeah Bikes", so the quality may be for a less experienced crowd, or for someone not looking to invest heavily in a ride.

yea, ppl like that kilo - you see it a lot, someone must like it. forget the windsor.

best find yourself an old steel track frame and buy the parts separately and put it together yourself - youll appreciate it more then and it wont cost much more (or indeed could cost a ton less if you make the effort) plus youll understand what your getting into.

I hate the word Dixie but I'd get the hour and upgrade a few things or the kilo both would suite my needs.
