Your guy's opinion on the cinelli mash?

Forgot which one of you guys have the cinelli mash, but I would like your guys opinions on it. More toward the ride and geometry.
I'm asking this because I'm thinking of replacing my vigorelli with a mash. I find my vigorelli bit too similar to my p concept and I'm a bit more fond of my concept then it.

My opinion is that I love it. I built mine up non-jackass/tarck.

I've been jackass since before non-jackass was jackass.

But, regarding the Mash. Too much rake. Marginal, but excessive.

i love the downward sloping top tube, it's a short top tube. i have mine set up with track drops on -17 degree stem, i like to pretend like i'm racing track. kidding aside i feel like i can get the best leverage in climbs / sprints with this set up. i think the head tube angle is steeper than my 04 pista, but it never feels twitchy. IMO it feels solid, tracks well through curves and is laterally stiff. mines isn't set up for fast acceleration, but more for top speed. i do love my mash.

+1

The geometries are closer to road than track.

The frame has a lot of hype with the whole MASH thing. Good frame for the street because it has slack geometry. As far as quality it's just like any other taiwan aluminum frame in that price range (good). I've only seen a 2 at the track.

Supposedly the new frames will come in two versions?

The frame is very well made. It's not "typical taiwanese". For that price range you get a lot of "brand" in other frames with not much substance.

Hold the frame unbuilt in your hand and build one up. Just don't "look" at one and gauge it. In other words most of the people who dislike it have never ridden one or taken the time to understand its intended purpose.

Those who have one like them a lot.

Mine's a blast to ride on the street and on the track. I love it to death, and would rather not sell mine if I didn't have to. It's a bike that I love to ride, love to just stare at, and just overall, I think worth the price I paid for mine. When I'm on my bike, I feel like I have absolute freedom, I can go anywhere I want, and isn't that all you can ask for out of a bike? It's an absolute joy to ride.

Edit: Dr. Banzai: Forgot to post up on BF to all the Vancouver people up here (Probably because I couldn't afford to ship a bike up here for the time I was up), but in Burnaby right now!~ Next time I'll try to ship my beater bike up, and possibly get a ride with all you West Coast Canadians. =)

Since you asked, I don't think the MASH would be difference for me to justify building up as another bike. You are already experiencing this being that the Concept and the Vigorelli are very similar.

If you are going to get something different, get something very different. Not slightly different.

I know I say this a lot, but maybe consider a road bike. Not only will the bike be different, it will open up an entirely different type of riding to you. You don't have to go full "roadie" to enjoy a road bike.

Also, there are TONS of ways to express yourself with a road bike. You can go full race, full vintage, vintage race, beater bomb, cyclocross, utilitarian, etc...

I'm not saying ditch your track bike. I'm just saying maybe expand a bit. Having the Pista Concept and going for a Vigorelli or MASH is like having a sports car and looking for another 2nd sports car. Why not have a sports car and a touring car or off-road fun car?

Oh, and to answer the original question:

IMHO: I think the MASH is overrated, over-priced, and has a funky geometry. I wouldn't buy it.

The MASH crew (and that whole sneaker culture type scene) is very good at marketing, hype, and creating perceived value.

1) Make something that's ever so slightly different than an existing ubiquitous product.
2) Give it to some influential trend setters (AKA: The cool guys)
3) Make it "Limited Edition" to create a sense of urgency and value
4) Charge more money than the existing ubiquitous product to help create more perceived value (AKA: Hipster Tax).
5) Subtly hype the crap out of it via very visible "underground" blogs.
6) ???
7) Profit!!

That freaking formula works for damn near everything on that scene. Open up Complex Magazine for other examples.
