no more frames for us poor people ? :( |
I like the seat clamp, not the tapered tube... seems to limit customization
|
How so? There are tons of forks with tapered steerers on the market and more to come in 2015.

It would end up looking wonky though. |

^^

Probably in most cases. In sure there are a few that would be fine.
|
noticed the early Preorder thing on leader's website. Only see 735 and 725, I hope it doesn't mean they discontinued the 722 Heritage as well. I've been trying to google any leaked pics and no dice.
|
The Heritage will stay and I'm pretty sure it's already available in Japan (I recently saw a pic of a gold one built up by Brotures Leader's Facebook page).
However, the 721 is gone from the 2015 lineup. |
went and searched it up, it looks pretty nice. better than the other pictures I found which dates back to 2012

Picked up a set of gumwall a while ago for two dollars and just put the front on to feel it out. Yay or nay?

I vote nay. Only my Leader can rock gumwalls.
|
What if I just rock one on the front? I'll be scrod-lite.
|
Add natural grips and I could dig it.

Leader-"We put new technology in the ride that's supposed to make it function better." consumer-"Can I not use the new technology though, because it limits my options." |

Leader-"We put new technology to prevent all of the knockoff frames from copying us for a year." Even more new crappy versions of the 721/725 are flooding the market. I noticed City Grounds just started carrying "Crew Bike Co". Now they have like 6 brands that all carry the same bottom of the barrel aluminum frames. |

But why would you? It's like trying to run a quill stem on a 1 1/8th headtube.

I agree that in most cases there is no good reason NOT to use a tapered fork in a tapered head tube. However, aesthetics aside, there are no real problems in doing so. |
I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of the tapered head tube and mega-oversized fork crown that seems to be all the rage for 2015.

Here's a better shot of that new seatpost binder setup of the '15's
