Love my 725, not a single issue since I got it in January, ride it 3-5 days a week at least 10-20 miles. I just like being the voice of opposition.

I've been using my 2014 721 as a daily commuter. Its good! Its too bad they've decided to "improve" it (6061 AL instead of 7005, geometry changes, etc).

The person in charge of Leader's new website really should hire a proof-reader.
Also, $5000 for a Leader! :roflmao: |
This is the only Leader frame I'd ever consider owning or riding.

I'm sure that price has little to nothing to do with the wheelset and components.

I may be way off base here...but my first impressions of Leader as a company was about 4-5 years ago when I lived in LA.
I would be out and about riding my celeste Super Pista, and would spot other kids on same colored frames. I'd think to myself "Yeah! Some more Bianchi love!" But then when I got closer, I'd see they were Leaders instead. And it was always high school aged kids riding them. So, ever since I first started seeing the brand, I viewed them as the "Poor man's Bianchi". I feel like they are for kids that want a Super Pista, but can't afford one. |
I can't afford one, guess that means me some kind of lesser being when it comes to bikes.
I find it so laughable, this attitude of superiority with bikes and what other people ride NEVER goes away. As I kid, you got made fun of endlessly if you rode a Huffy when the other kids were riding GT, Dyno and Haro. Then we stepped up to mountain bikes, and while I was riding the Iron Horse I had (and loved), I got torn a new one daily bike the kids who were riding Santa Cruz, Specialized, Giant, etc. Then I started riding fixed gear about 10 years ago, and I got a Windsor Hour, and got roasted on the forums and boards because it wasn't a Bianchi, or a Cinelli. Ten years later, I got a Leader, which I wanted then, still wanted now, and still love. In that 10 years, I've come away with two things. Number one, the only people that give a damn and continue to act like pompous dicks about what brand your frame is are the internet. All the dozens of people I ride with in person, riding fixed or otherwise, dig everyone's bike and no one talks down to you for having a cheaper bike. Number to, while everyone pines away for a Cannondale Track, Mash Cinelli, Low, Affinity, etc. and is constantly wishing for something better, here's me on my Leader, happy because I got the bike I wanted. I get compliments on my bike EVERY time I ride it. By people who don't know the difference, and people that do. Take that for what it's worth. |

My first exposure to them left a bitter taste in my mouth, that's all. Hell, I'm planning on getting a 17T frame for $100 to build up as a daily commuter. I'm definitely no uppity bike snob. I have nice bikes, I have **** bikes. It's whatever. As long as you're riding, that's all that matters. |
No harm, no foul. It's just something that grinds my gears. And your last sentence is the centerpoint of my feelings on the matter.
|
I don't really give a **** what other people ride, what my neighbors are having for dinner or whether it's going to rain in Minneapolis tomorrow. I ride a Bare Knuckle with townie bars on it and concentrate on my own life.

Who would want to race on gatorskins? If I had a $5000 Tarck racing bike it would have nice handmade tubulars from someone like Dugast or FMB not Gators or other clinchers. At the least I would run a Specialized Turbo Cotton open tubular (kinda like a clincher) if I needed to run innertubes. I also would have a much nicer frame for that price and top end parts all over. They don't even mention chain and cog used meaning it is probably some low end garbage rather than a nice EAI Gold Medal or Sugino Gigas and Izumi or HKK or DID chain or even at least Dura Ace or Campy!

Leader probably doesn't expect to even sell a handful of them. It's strictly an advertisement to give their company more racing credibility. "Look at us enter crit racers and watch the videos of us racing....now go buy the $300 model because it's "similar."" Mash and Dosnoventa both did this at that big NY crit race (and made videos) except the bikes they used are just the standard off the rack models. Dosnoventa's was actually quite funny. |
So how does it compare to the State Undefeated? And when do we get the PureFix Undefeated and the Aventon Undefeated?
|
PureFix is doing a collaboration with Look instead. Calling it PureFook

Don't spend too much money on your race rig. Race fees are what kill you. $25 every week adds up really really quick.
|
Thanks man, I love it. The wheels are just a cheap set I picked up used. I want a 735, but I'm waiting to see if that Undefeated 735 is going to be the new 735 frame design.

At least Cinelli has the racing history and Mash isn't designing totally JA bikes. I cannot say much about Dosnoventa other than I don't see them on the streaaats ridden by anyone so maybe they are slightly better or they suck but are expensive? |

Awesome. Looks like the same style seat tube and post as the Undefeated 735 racing concept.
Can't wait until those new designs are available for sale, I'm getting a new 735. |

I'll take another one later today if you want another photo after.
|
Also, slightly off-topic but riding without your phone on you doesn't seem like a good idea. It's always good to have in case of an emergency.
