Sealed bearing quick release?

Hey out there, just want more opinions on what can be done.

I got a SE Draft bike awhile ago and want to convert the front nutted axle to quick release. Now, it's got the sealed cartridge bearings with a solid axle (with built in spacers to hold bearings in place). What can I do to make it a quick release without changing the hub...?

I'm guessing getting a hollow axle with just a tad smaller O.D. than the inner "race" of the bearing's I.D....then using a spacer between the two bearings...?

Just take off the bolts. Voila!

Nyuck nyuck.

You can often find replacement axles for hubs, so long as you have a common pitch. Buy a new hollow axle, and replace your solid one. It should be that easy.

Axles for cartridge bearings usually have shoulders on both sides, different companies have different width, profile, length etc etc.

One of these might work with your hub, though you should e-mail BikeIsland to double check.

Also, removing and installing cartridge bearing, read this guide if you are planning to do it yourself.

If I were you, I'd buy a wheel.
