My next bike is in the works.........

After much consideration, I have decided to go custom. I talked to several builders this week and I finally found the guy I want to work with.
I am pretty excited about the project and he appears to be as well. In fact, he would like to get it done in time to use it as a show bike for the North American Handmade Bicycle show in Austin. Which would be cool.
In any case, we have decided to build a titanium single speed. We have not decided on components yet, but I am thinking about trying to use as much American made componentry as possible. Any advice or suggestions would be great. I am also considering painting a portion of the bike, not a lot, maybe just a band on the down tube or the seat tube and seat/chain stays.....totally unsure.
While I am still in accident recovery mode, I can't stop thinking about riding....hopefully soon! I hope everyone has a good week.

A carbon fork by Wound Up (Made in the USA) would go great with any titanium bike.

For a single speed you could get white industries hubs, freewheel, pedals, and cranks. Thompson post and stem. Wound Up fork. Im stuck on rims and bars.

I have a Matrix Tiitan II rim which was made in USA. Don't know much about the quality of it though.

king headset and bb cups
stronglight rings and cogs
phil hubs
wound up fork
thompson stem and post (unless your framebuilder can do these too, which would be amazing)
some ridiculous american made wheels. where are zipps made? easton?
the only things i don't think are going to be worthwhile are handlebars and saddle, pedals and chain, small stuff like that.

if you got a custom seat mast you wouldn't need the post, but that's up to you. all of the stuff that you can cut out from the frame is stuff that's easily sourced from the US.

I'm liking these ideas. Anyone familiar with Paul Industries? Looks like some cool stuff.

Definitely going King headset and bb cups and Thomson stem and post.

indeed. not quite the buzz of phil, but seriously quality stuff. i was going to recommend their crankset (and you simply must run their card suits chainring).

stronglight is french, yes.

That crankset is really sweet and I agree about the card suits chainring. Well.....maybe I should use their hubs as well. Who knows, I'll probably get so confused all the components will end up german.

Nice.

My bike is mostly American (depending on the configuration at the time):
Frame: Tiemeyer
Headset: Chris King
Seatpost + Stem: Thomson
Bars: Easton EC90
Cranks/BB: SRAM Omnium
Wheels: Zipp
Chainrings: FSA Pro
Computer: PowerTap

Not USA:
Chain
Tires
Pedals
Saddle

For more USA stuff, I guess we could go with:

Chain: SRAM PC1
Saddle: Specialized (a bunch to choose from)
Tires: Specialized (a bunch to choose from)
Pedals: Specialized Lo Pro Mag 2 Platform Pedals (appropriate for singlespeed use or fg use with straps)
