New Handle Bar/Brake lever

Hi everyone. I recently got a new Windsor Clockwork from BD. After riding a bunch I've realized I barely use the drop bars and mostly use the bars as if they are straight.

So this has led me to look for a good straight bar and a new brake lever. The bike has tektro brakes, so do I need a tektro lever? Do I need new brake cable or can I use the cable already attached? And do any of you have a good suggestion or two on a straight handlebar? (26.0mm diameter)

Thanks,

John

Thanks DoomKitty. Could you recommend any good handlebars and/or levers?

I was looking at these:

Levers:

Handlebars:

I'm thinking of just keeping a front brake, but I'm still deciding. If anyone has good experience with a certain product I'm looking for, please let me know!

Thanks,

John

The stuff you posted would certainly work, but I'm way too cheap to pay $40 for a brake lever and $40 for a handlebar. IMO, unless it's something really awesome it just shouldn't cost that much.

Here are my suggestions:

Ok, so I couldn't find any flat bars with a 26mm clamp. Are you sure it isn't 25.4mm? Cause then you'd have a lot of options.

Wouldn't something like This work to offer options?

I have a Nitto B2520AA flat bar with a 26.0mm clamping area and 22.2mm bar size. It's 52cm wide and has a slight 5 degree sweep to it. You can buy one here:

This is the lever I use:

I think I'm gonna check out a LBS tomorrow and see what they have to offer. If anyone has anymore information on parts or the best ways to get this done, let's here it!

Thanks,

John

You can use 25.4mm bars in a 26.0mm stem with a shim. Cut one out of a beer can or buy one.

Flip 'n' chop.

I've been looking at some risers now and found these:

http://www.amazon.com/Origin-Alloy-R...5205484&sr=8-3

I see that they are 25.4mm, so I will need shims of some sort, but what size brake diameter would I need?

Probably 22.2mm, which means you'll need mtb levers like this http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...oducts_id=5708 Also, you'll need a brake cable with an mtb end like this http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...oducts_id=8863
