Time is of the essence
It is now 5:05 pm est. For the next 20 minites +/- Bonktown .com has SS chains in about eight colors on sale for 1/2 off (so they say). I can't vouch for the quality but I thought I'd let you know. BTW...I have no relationship or ties to Bonktown.
|
It's over. Only 17 chains sold out of a total 202 offered. Weird thing is that the description said they were 1/8 wide, but all the progress bars for the different colors showed them as 3/32? Anyways, $9 is ok I guess, but the MSRP of $20 is exagerated. Also, what is shipping?
|
Meh, it's gone now. Toss me in with the cheap LBS BMX chain clique.

Chances are that those chains aren't anything special. Plus, you can get decent KMC chains at many local shops for $10.
Don't let that site whip you into a frenzy over something that isn't frenzy-worthy. |
I'd rather pay an extra $5-$10 for a higher quality chain. The last thing I'd want to fail on a fixed gear is the chain. Personally, I went with an Izumi Eco that I got for $16 shipped from Universal Cycles.

+1 for the Izumi Eco,The wipperman weisstern 108 is great too!

Yeah, the Izumi Eco is what I'm riding/racing now, too. It's my new favorite. It cleans up very well (gotta remove the wax) and is light and as strong as I need it to be. My Izumi V Super Toughness has been in a ziplock bag for 9 months.

Aye, saving it for Nationals, eh?
I was working with a weird gear ratio (45x13) that required a short chain because both the chainring and cog were small. But, the other ratios I used in training (up to 51x14) used the long chain. The screw pin in the Super Toughness chain made it a pain in the butt to change on the regular. I went to using two ECO chains with fast clip master links and didn't look back. |
i was hoping this thread would have something to do with del tha funkee *****apien

The screw is harder to use? I feel like the clip is impossible to get off.
|
i like the cost effectiveness of kmc for single gear purposes. sram also has attractive pricing.

The clip comes off and goes on with one squeeze in the right place. The screw takes time to screw and unscrew using pliers (to hold the square nut) and a screwdriver. Super secure.

Yup, TT.
yummygooey, read what TT just wrote. THAT is why that chain is a PITA to change out once or twice a session. |
connex are the best.
