i once made a hybrid from a SRAM pc-1 and KMC z510 chain. When the pc-1 part of the chain was at 12 1/16" the KMC part of the chain showed less than half the same amount of wear. Pc-1s are junk.

Using a thick oily lube will minimize drivetrain noise, although a worn chain should still be replaced.
