1 inch threadless fork's 44mm rake

Brother is looking to replace fork on his kilo. Due to crack,

He wants the same rake 44 or 50

anything? I found tange but is 38mm he doesnt want more toe bite....

Squirrelli 01-22-11 03:16 PM

That's a lot of rake, brah.

What is the head tube angle?

evilcryalotmore 01-22-11 03:20 PM

Kilo tt so 73 he has a 47cm kilo

I found milloins of forks under 38mm rake.

we can just purchase a new stock fork from bikeisland but he dosent want to.

Squirrelli 01-22-11 03:26 PM

Ah, no wonder.

This one
has 50mm rake, which is about ~49mm of trail with 700x23c tires. That's not a lot of trail.

Correction: BI says the fork is 26.4 race on inch thanks vix. Probally gunna get that if he doesnt want to spend the money. Becuase its either a wound up fork used for 100 in 38mm rake.... or a new tange fork in 38mm rake or this in 50mm.

any one know if i order the stock fork from bikeisland if it'll come with mercier stickers

Squirrelli 01-22-11 04:41 PM

Yea, it says it has a 30.0mm race and no, the Kilo fork will not come with stickers.

Scrodzilla 01-22-11 04:49 PM

They won't have any decals.

Your brother really should lay off the crack though.

~44mm rake is not at all unusual on a road bike. there are *tons* of road forks @ 43mm or 45mm, but they will be drilled for brakes. if you've got a short steerer and deep pockets, i've got a full carbon ouzo pro in 1"/45mm.

Squirrelli 01-22-11 05:11 PM

Oh, I meant that 50mm was a lot of rake. :P

I'd opt for dookie's Ouzo fork.

IRO is selling forks for $60, but the rake is 43mm.

But dude, you make so many threads... Jeez.

Don't think that you have to absolutely get a 44mm rake. You won't notice any difference if you get a 43mm or 45mm. But 38mm will change the trail a bit.
