Quick Video: My friends FG edit.

Well, my friend Sandon (the kid riding the bike) graduated from Full Sail University in FL and works with some of his friends in Grand Rapids, Mich. (the city this was shot in). While they were bored one night they took off about town and shot a little video. Nothing too crazy, no super fast riding, no bar spinzz either, just a fun little edit he threw together of himself riding around town. I liked it, so i thought i would share.

Pretty nice quality given the minimal ambient lighting. Could use some shots of faster riding for sure.

One of the shots was flipped. Im not sure if your using a DOF adapter but it seems like you would considering that its flipped.

Nice video. One thing though, The black gap between that shot is pretty useless.

I didn't think the music matched. It was a solo night time ride with no traffic, and the guy seemed really chilled out. I'd rather hear some jazz or understated instrumental music. Also it ended abruptly without resonance. That last shot didn't work as an ender.

Just my $.02

I like the shots (minus the flipped one). The editing is ok, but the music choice is pretty ??.

Im actually kind of happy that I didn't see no BMX tricks, barspinz, Keo Spins, Tail Whips, fat 700 x 69c tires etc.

And + 1 on the suggestion for jazz etc.

Looks fun, wish the town I lived in was flat and urban enough to ride without fear of speeding vehicular death :/
Have to leave my town for my weekly ride

I always seem to hit those huge pushed up because of the California earthquakes bumps whenever we go on our night rides :/

I'll pass along the words and suggestions to my friend. I had no part in making the movie and used 'edit' because it was just a quick, short, piece. As for Grand Rapids, it was filmed on the flat roads but the city it self has some pretty major hills. Some of the biggest in Michigan actually. A very populated fun / younger city. Certain areas at night are dead though! Great for night rides.

Chris, you should totally participate in his next video.

I wouldn't actually mind watching more of his stuff as it doesn't seem pretentious at all.

Isn't "edit" meaning like an edited down version of a longer thing?

While it didn't really fit I was really digging the Sleigh Bells. I saw them in concert a couple of months back and they were totally rad. This caused me to like the "edit" more than I should have.

But I, too, cringe and roll my eyes* whenever I read the word "edit" in reference to some really short fixed gear film. Why not call it a "clip" or a "vid", why jump straight to so-cliche-it's-ridiculous term "edit"?

*need to come up with a word for this.

See I thought sleigh bells fit pretty well with the vid. it contrasted with the slowed down footage and gave it a kind of intense feel or something. idk how to really put it into words, but it worked for me, and i have a strong dislike for sleigh bells.

though i have to agree with everyone's thoughts on an ending, though i guess since this is a short vid it's not a huge deal.
looking forward to seeing you post some longer vids!

I have seen some screen shots of the vid before it was posted. They actually got a good amount of footage with some decent 'fast ride' scenes. They decided to edit it down though ( i have no idea why). Anywho, I'll relay all feedback to my bud and will post some more if they make some more!

Again, as for using "edit", i really dont know why i used it. Guess cause it was a short clip. Sorry if it hurts some of you guys..haha
