Haha, it's definitely not mine. The wheels are mine now though ;]

I'd actually really, really like to see that movie. It seemed good.

c0urt 06-13-12 12:41 AM

I want to see the movie to, but I was wondering the whole time. Did he really just get shot at?
it was up there with "why were those guys dancing in their underwear?"

Adrian_ 06-13-12 12:54 AM

Lucas just commented somewhere that it was supposed to be a chase scene through the mountains with real guns shooting blanks. I still don't get how it ties in to alleycats.

Somewhere in there it said "the most skilled urban riders". Do people believe that?

3rd world episode of COPS
And how are they called the best urban riders if they just rely on every single driver to take evasive action?

Car skids to stop in front of cyclist's blank stare... cyclist says 'dude, what I did there was just awesome'

hamfoh 06-13-12 01:35 AM

heh had this argument earlier with someone too who was talking trash on our event page. he linked that video with "this is how its done" or something and I said something along the lines is crazy and stupid doesn't = fast and strong

jimmytango 06-13-12 03:39 AM

I ride like a complete *******, but that **** is insane by my standards.

tsmvengy 06-13-12 07:14 AM

At least half of those "close calls" are close because the driver of the car/van/truck realized they should stop, not because of anything the messenger did. Whenever I see videos with clips of messengers talking, I'm always shocked at how many are either on something or brain-dead stupid, then I realize that has to be the case so you can drown out the survival klaxon that would be constantly going off in your head.

Spoonrobot 06-13-12 08:10 AM

In all likelihood the vast majority of those riders are just riders, not messengers. Alleycat races haven't been messenger-exclusive or messenger-majority in most areas since the late 1990s.

Here's your cheat sheet:
Pedal is a documentary about messengers.
To Live and Ride in L.A. is a documentary about ******bags.
Empire is documentary about hipsters.
Line of Sight is a documentary about unsanctioned urban racing.

I'm excited about the movie. It does look like it's going to have it's own head up it's ass quite a bit though.

cubex 06-13-12 01:12 PM

@mks your welcome :D

and that line of sight video is just plain stupid people who ride like that just give a bad name to cyclist and ruin it for everyone
ex. whats happened in Japan with the cycling crackdown

+2

one guy shot directly at the camera at one point so those had to be blanks..
but at another point you clearly see real bullets hitting the ground, i mean it certainly looked like some bombed out USSR location but still, what is this Bourne Identity?

stupid riding is stupid but the guns just bring it to a whole new "natural selection at work" kinda level

Also in Greece I guess they have SCUBA Alleycats? Who knew?

That depends on how you want to define urban cycle skills. But at least one of the riders from that video is a professional road cyclist right now.

I saw that trailer yesterday and was wondering how long it was going to take to show up on here, and how many threads will be made about it.
