How long do you think it will take before the insults come? And they will come.

It's not a big deal when a person willingly submits his bike to being judged like in a "What don't you like about my bike?" thread. "My" being the operative word.

The problem comes when Person A submits Persons B's bike as a "jackass bike" when Person B wasn't even interested in having his bike "evaluated". This is pretty much like, "Hey, look at this guy's ugly girlfriend!"

Nothing good can come of making fun of other people's bikes. There is something wrong with you people if you want to make fun of others.

Further....

This is not something that people will do to a person's face, so why do it hidden behind a keyboard?

I can understand carlton's point but most of the bikes posted in a thread like this are random images found on other sites and don't belong to anyone here. There are a lot of dumb bikes out there in the world and it's okay to laugh at stuff.

It's already been said that if it gets out of hand in any way, this thread will be closed. It really doesn't need to be discussed or worried about more than that.

Look, guys. Any thread, regardless of topic, can get out of hand and degenerate into personal attacks, requiring intervention by the forum police. This happened a few days ago with the "The new post your ss/fg photos!" sticky thread, where a fight broke out involving personal insults that had absolutely nothing to do with the thread topic. The thread was locked, cleaned up and re-opened. IDK if any infractions were issued, but IMO at least one member should have been infracted, and maybe even banned. I was the mod on duty when the original jackass thread was closed, and eventually trashed by an admin. The trouble was created by a trolling forum member, who has long since been permanently banned. Personally, I don't have much interest in threads like this, but don't see a problem with them per se. I enjoy robust debate and don't mind friendly ribbing by reindeer meat eaters, but don't like to see plain old mean nastiness and hurt feelings.
