My SS Raleigh Technium Build
Hey Guys,
First post here! I've been lurking for quite some time, but finally finished my build (more or less, I still my get some nicer wheels). Story goes as such: I did the Craigslist hustle. Sold my grandfathers old '78 Sekai for $200, decent bike, but it was a tank... ~30lbs. Found this guy on CL and bought it for $100: http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/6748/img1534u.jpg I sold the original wheels, and with that money was able to get RavX bar tape, an AllCity chainring, new black & white chain, and Vader Saddle. I got the wheels/pedals/cages for free from a friends old build. Finished: http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/2585/img2520u.jpg In the end, it cost me ~$17. I weigh 186lbs, and the bike is roughly 24lbs. I'm very happy with it at the moment, but again I may get some nicer/lighter wheels soon. :) |
Reminds me of a Proactiv commercial before/after. Well done bringing it back to life, regardless of the colored chain.
Edit: I spy wheels from a mongoose...or chukkers? |
That's a sweet conversion, and at an awesome price!! You should post some more pictures.

Looks awesome.

^^From what I gathered, it's a good frame. Aluminum main bars with steel tube junctions... Exige breaks/parts.
Indeed they are Mongoose wheels, wrapped in Continental Ultra Sports ;) I'll be getting some nicer one's eventually, but these aren't all that bad for the time being. Also, bike theft is HORRIBLE in Berkeley, second only to NY I believe, so cheapies will definitely do for now. Thanks for the kind words. I'll post up some more pics! |
