How to remove road brake levers?

Hello everyone,

I want to be productive today and replace my drop bar and stem on my SST AL with the Easton ones that came in. Can someone please guide me on removing the road levers (Tektro R200)?

Thanks!

There's a 5mm hex bolt that you need to loosen. It's right in the lever, directly behind the cable stop. You'll need to loosen the cable at the brake caliper to get enough slack to get the wrench in there. If you're just switching bars and not replacing the cable and housing, don't pull the cable out, just leave it loose.

Just want to add that you might have to pull back the rubber hoods to do so.

Those levers should have a little quick release button to let some slack on the cable as well. That's usually enough to get to the hex bolt.

you probably dont need to pull the hoods back to loosten the bolt, but you may need to pull them forward to slide em through.

easier to use an angle grinder with cutoff tool. hacksaws work too if you don't have access to an angle grinder
