KHS Flite 100 Quill Question

So I have a bunch of bikes, all track frames, but the one I'm using currently is a KHS Flite 100. I've essential stripped everything but the frame throwing on Gator skin hard shells on Deep v rims, different saddle, and riser bars.

The thing is, about this bike, is that i keep starring at these washers. For some reason the 2005 model comes with a quill and drop bars but these later models have this crappy carbon stem that sits atop these washers. All this cringing... so, I'm wondering, can take this setup and trash it like I did everything else? Can I throw on an old school quill and some drop bars again?

Sure, as soon as you buy yourself a suitable threaded fork/headset.

cool man, you know any that are good recommendations? I need nothing expensive, more just functioning. I like the fork for the curve in it (absorbs a lot of the nyc street pot holes), but just want to change the headset and bars

Bikeworks has a bunch of forks that are threaded that you can throw on there. I'd bring the bike over there and have them check it out. They definitely have what you need.

Bring your stock KHS fork to Spokesman Cycles on Vernon BLVD. They will be able to thread your current fork for about $40. I got the same exact fork threaded there 4 or so years ago.

From what I heard the steel is too thin in order to thread the stock fork. That's what dude said at bike works. I need to save in this mod but can't risk breaking down (or dying), I do 8 miles to work in the middle of no where. Even train fares are issues.
