Pake Steel Track Frame Question

Pake Steel Track Frame Question

I know these frames have been discussed before, but I could not find any comments for the type of riding I want to do. I currently have an old Panasonic conversion, but I want something a little more rigid. My bike is my main transportation through the city, and occasional trip to the velodrome. But I want to start a little more track riding. Would the Pake frame be a good fit? If not what do you recommend?

Thank you,
Seth

Let me preface by saying that I am not a Pake or Velodrom rider. I just wanted to say that you may want to check the vdrome rules about bikes. The drome here has specific rules about the bikes that are allowed on the track.

Track bikes will generally be used. Road bikes may be used for specific sessions but will not be ridden while track bikes are on the track. Mountain bikes, BMX bikes or other types of bicycles will not be used.

If Pake is track specific and I have no clue what that means then you should be ok.

The Pake would make a fine track bike since their angles are relatively steep and their bottom bracket is somewhat high. Depending on what velodrome you're riding, you might encounter pedal strike.

What velodrome will you be going to?

You think I would with 165mm crank arms? Would it be any different with a Bianchi Pista? And I would be going to the one down near Miami Florida.
Thanks,
Seth

whats your budget? do you want a built up bike or build it yourself? how big are you? i tried the 1 bike for both track and street and ended up not being happy with that and so have 2 different bikes now. something to maybe keep in mind.

I'm 6'3" measured out for a 61" seat tube. I really like the 06 Bianchi Pista frame as well. And i would build the bike up.
Thanks
