Good Lights for cheap.
So my current lights, are
Harbor freight 7 dollar 3 LED light, Its ok has a selection of straight or burst. I take the used lithium ion batteries from my brothers camera flash and its alot brighter. 2nd front light, is a front light i got for free from jensons, I went there and i won a raffle. Its really bright, But very narrow... Not really good for dark situations.. When i ride Home at night i normally have two head lights just cause. for the rear, I have a super flasher witch i like very much, and sometimes i carry a smaller flasher that i mount on the bag that points left towards traffic. Question is, Whats the best front headlight and rear headlight for around 40-50 dollars. I've used the niterider usb charge one. Wish i owned it, Cause when i ride the trails at night. I really can't see a thing. |
nashbar will definitely have a bit of what you are looking for, and they have some nice prices in the 40-50 range.

i use the planet bike blaze headlight/superflash tail light set, you can get it for about $50 or so. they're pretty bright, and the tail light has a VERY bright flash setting that really gets drivers' attention.

Deal XXXtreme!
For the cost of a decent front light, you can run 40 of those knock off knogs. All at once or spread across a period of time. |
I use these http://bontrager.com/model/08923
Worked out really well so far, because I can take off both the front and back light when I go to class or have to leave my bike locked up for a while.:thumb: |

This is a standard P60 host. You have the option of attaching extenders to the body to add more batteries, you can switch the head for something more floody or throws the lite more. In the future you can also swap the LED light source itself for something better. It's a very flexible flashlight that allows for plenty of modifications/upgrades. Here's mine that I put a red LED to use as a rear light: |

DealExtreme has been crappy to me. I ordered a $3 light mount from them, and I still haven't gotten it. They said they sent another one, but it's been 3 weeks and it's not here yet. Fail.
Anyways. I'm very happy with my Portland Design Works Radbot 1000. I got it back when it was $18 shipped on Amazon. I'd like to say that my Fenix LD20 torch is an awesome front headlight, but I haven't gotten my friggin mount yet. It is ridiculously bright and awesome and tactical, though. Unfortunately the Fenix LD20 alone is $50. I've seen a Planet Bike Blaze front light before. It's adequate. |
wondering where my hiPhone is at. Must be stuck in customs or transit. At least daylight savings is right around the corner.
