these are panaracer t-serv protecs in the 700x35c variety
lies
it's a 59cm, i went back and forth with jeff from all-city on what the proper size would be since when i ordered my frame not one within a few states of nj had one yet for me to try. i'm 6'3 with a 32.4" inseam. i'm all torso and i've had a few back injuries in my day. i bend in the middle of my back, not at my hips, which is why the bars are level with saddle. i like the slight upright stance i get.
I am mechanic and bicycle fitter for a living, it's perfect, so perfect that i copied the positioning on this to 2 of my other bikes.
i wont get into a fitting debate, but i notice a lot on this thread and a few others of people saying "that frame doesn't fit right" it is impossible to determine a proper fit from a picture, unless it's obvious like a lay back post with the saddle slid all the way back or ******ly high bars/stem... even then, everyone has a preference for what they prefer to ride. one thing i've learned over my years of fitting if that nothing is set in stone or right, everyone is different.

My fleet of SS\FG. Only fixed gear is the Kilo on the far right. The rest are singlespeeds.
Pacific Carryme - an ultra portable class of bike made by Pacific Cycles. A good quality build but the small wheels and narrow chain are buzzy. Suitable for slow, sight seeing type rides in well paved areas.
Dahon Helios P8 (formerly 8 speeds) neutered into a singlespeed. For a while here this was my work horse. Fendered, racked and panniered, it folds into trunk of a car and is suitable for bicycle commuting and multi-modal commuting. I cut the handlebars narrower to fit my body.
Softride beam suspension bicycle. Picked up the frameset, carbon fork, stem and 650c wheels off Craigslist for $100 then built the bike up. It is fairly light, nimble, VERY fast to accelerate and climbs like a scalded cat. I have concerns over the longevity of the carbon beam as it is no longer made nor supported by the manufacturer. As a road bike it is EXTREMELY comfortable with little to no road buzz and beautiful cushioning of the rider due to the beam. I would seriously replace this bike with either a Titanflex or Air friday when its time. Comparing the Softride with the Kilo, the Softride accelerates faster and turns quicker. It does not feel as stable as the Kilo in a straight line.
The stem is protruding up top as I am trying an adjustment which lowers the handlebars more than my previous setup following the advice of Dave Moulton expressed here: https://davesbikeblog.squarespace.com...-position.html
One reason for the Softride's quickness: light tires. These are supposed to weight around 184 grams. They ride well without being harsh. Have not flatted on them during my commute yet.
The Softride's carbon beam.
Softride's cockpit with bike computer.

dont get me wrong, i love my breed.... but no fender or rack mounts. im actually thinking about selling and getting a zona nature boy. i'd like a more versatile bike.
today was awesome/hell. 60kms mixed rural road, fire road, farm field, rail trail, single and double track. ~3deg C. 45kmh crosswinds. hail and sleet. mud over my ankles. 3hrs flat. not bad i guess for my first time in the mud. beer tastes good.

42/16. made some of the less slippy climbs hard but it was so muddy i was shouldering the bike for sure everywhere else. figured a bit bigger gear would let me get in the drops and crush souls[lulz] on the road and gravel sections. worked out pretty decent.

I had them lying around. I was actually going to switch bottle holders with my roadbike, but my saddlebag gets in the way. So I guess no particular reason except I already had it and didn't want to buy new cages at the time

suggestions on a really understated frame? Something simple and elegant? Preferably no decals or whatever.
I think I'll probably kopp one of those meaty looking frames (either another visp (cheap option), moto team track (less cheap option), or a fuji) for a "I'm in a balls to the walls mood" bike, but I'm really looking for something fun and comfy. I wonder if I should re-build up my kilo to be less fruity. My roomie might have 100% adopted that bike though.
Why are bikes as addictive as meth?
