Bike rack (SIMPLE) for daughter (again)....Honda Accord
 

Ok, trying to still help my daughter out at college...

Wanted: VERY SIMPLE bike rack to fit on trunk , Honda Accord...

I do have an older one with all the straps, pipes etc, but is there not a really simple
one that just fits quickly on ? She is not that "mechanical" if you know what i mean!!

Hitch mounted rack.

The Thule rear racks are VERY easy to use for about $100 or less. You may be able to find on used on craigslist, or put up a wanted ad. Plenty of people buy them and let them collect dust in their garage.

I use this on my Accord. I have had no issues.

Trunk racks are a pain when you want to get into the trunk. The bike may obscure the rear lights. If she is tall enough, just get a roof rack and leave it on so she never has to deal with it. If you get a good rack (I like the Thule Sidearm), it is very simple to get the bike on and off. Also, the better roof racks have locks, so she does not have to worry about leaving the bike on the car for short periods of time.

If she is not tall enough, have her keep a milk crate in the trunk to stand on.

if she for some reason does have a hitch on her accord I would go with a hitch rack. Trunk racks are great but they are a pain to get on and off and I don't know of one that still allows access to the trunk. Roof racks are great too but relatively expensive and depending on how tall she is that could be a problem. A roof rack will also make her look like a badass until the day she forgets her bike is up there and attempts to park in a parking garage.

I would suggest the Sarus Bones. I am able to get into my trunk with it on. Granted it isn't easy, because the weight of the bikes, but I think it works really well, is easy to setup and isn't super expensive either. Not to mention that unlike many other trunk racks it doesn't seem to scratch the car.

A Schwinn rack, don't seem the best of quality, but I got one from Target a few years ago and it has worked great so far. Just make sure it's secure. I got it for $40 or $45 and that was the normal price.

I've used this before and it is confusing as heck to install. It scratched my trunk paint once, but that was also due to user error. I also never really feel like it's as secure as I'd like it to be when I'm carrying a $800 bike on the back. I'd rather just take my bike apart and put it in the back seat or trunk.

Bottom line: it works pretty well, but I don't like it.

Saris Bones 2, or the solo. No real adjustments to make. Super-easy on and off. My father-in-law, who has zero technical skill, loves his.

The easiest way is quickrelease on the frontwheel and off into the backseat it goes.Extra bonus,instant theft protection.

Not on trunk, but as simple as suction cups? :lol:
