Fake Deep V's
Have any of you guys came across fake deep v wheels? How can you tell if a pair of deep v's are legit?
No such thing. :|
Get with it! Deep v's are out. B43's are in.
this one time i bought a pair of wheels but they turned out to be snake oil!
You need to get them inspected by Charlie Sheen.
They will have a sticker on them saying "Velocity" and "Deep V."

I've lusted after those rims for years. Which may explain why I like the Mavic Ellipse so much. |
If yours look like these, you're good to go :D

Yup, it looks good from the looks of the pics. The rear is a powdercoated one, the front is just machined/ powdercoated.
So its legit? :D
well, it looks like a velocity.
don't get what the big deal is though. I used to think that velocities must be better than the weinmann dp18s... however after building some velocity wheels and wheels from other manufacturers, I don't think there could be much of a difference. velocity makes a pretty mediocre wheel. i had some aeroheads that weren't really drilled offset from center and had metal flashing in the holes. in comparison, the h+sons i've worked with have been much nicer. the tb14s i just built went together as smoothly as open pros, with a better finish. only thing i don't care for on the tb14s is how f'n hard it is to mount tires on them. |
nah bro i was just making sure i didnt get ripped off, so the velocity sign on the rim is just a sticker? i thought my set was fake because it didnt have the logo
lupin, whered you get the tb14's?

The only qualm I have with DP18 is that they're too narrow. At around 12mm inner width, a lot of fatter tires simply aren't recommended, as they'll just roll off the rim when going around corners. Either way, the best 30mm deep rim is from kinlin. It's just too bad soul wheels seems to have a monopoly on kinlin 40mm deep rims. |
Any opinions on Chukkars? Deep-Vs uglier and wider step brother. I have used these for bike polo and they seem great riding in the pot hole ridden wastes of Cleveland
My Mavic O4CD's are fake.... I just found out after 15 years of riding them..... I'm crushed...
