This is our latest shop project. This bike is a real POS but we're turning it into a full suspension(ha ha) single speed icebike complete with studded tires. We want to build another just like it and race them on our buddy's frozen lake this winter.

that's cool, how's the tension on that chain when the rear shock is compressed??
is it fixed or freewheel?

It's got a 16 tooth freewheel and a 34 tooth chainring. We ground the teethoff the outer ring for a bash guard. The coil shock is set pretty stiff so chain tension's not a problem. I'll post more pics later.

off topic but is the group W bench from arlo's alices restaurant massacre?

Does that have a unified rear triangle? I've been keeping an eye out for an old schwinn homegrown URT for a full suspension SS.

up here in the great white north we use self-tapping screws to make winter tires for bikes-I'm going to build a fixed one for this winter from an old Hard Rock-no more slush in the derailler. Also a couple of BMXs fixed for sons.

Yes it is. I wondered if anybody would pick up on that. I also have it on a sign above my workbench at the shop. Only had a half dozen people who understood it.

We tried that but the screws kept pulling out. The tire rubber wasn't hard enough.

Yeah but it's just a cheap MGX (Mongoose) frame. Customer brought the bike in for repair but decided it was cheaper to buy a new bike and just left it there. So we stripped it down and made a SS.

Not Schwinn, but Cambriabike has the Catamounts on clearance:

These deals always come up when I'm broke. I always liked that design. Thanks
