Can't decide! Lend a hand!

Ok I've decided to get me a bag! I saw some stuff over at the cyclingforums place and it's been itching at me ever since! I'm going with the big one and I've got it down to 2 different things I want.

1st, All Black with a traditional Jolly Roger skull & cross bones (I know, I know but I've always wanted)

2nd, a colour, perhaps olive drab or even a brighter colour like yellow on the flap, forest green or black elsewhere with a cog kinda lying there at an angle. The pic below is what I'll send if I choose this one.

anyway I've traded some emails with them and they're just wanting to know which and they'll make it. I found them in the equipment section of the other forums i read sometimes and kept going back to those pictures (maybe i got a crush on tha girl in the pics rawr!) They got other pics on their website but i keep looking at these
http://www.cyclingforums.com/reviews/showcat.php?cat=29
and at these, though they got no pics of their own stuff,
http://www.under-the-weather.ca/people1.html
seems like they know whats up, being longtime messers and all.

SO!

Help me out, Skull & Bones on Black or Fixed Cog on color?

I'll be happy wit either, but i CAN NOT decide. everytime i go to send the email sayin gimme this one i want the other one more.

It says nothing about a stashpocket or a pie holder. Look elsewhere

Those bags ARE pretty nice. And cheap, in comparison to "mainstream" bags.

You're right, she's pretty hot (although you can't see her face properly in any of the pictures). More important than her face, you can see her drivetrain here. I might be more attracted to her if she didn't have all of that shizzle on her bike. Someone needs to let her know how many cool points you lose for having a cassette, let alone deraileur.

I think the skull and crossbones is a little played out. Though you want one now, you run a higher risk of saying to yourself down the line, "Damn, the skull and crossbones is super played out like that one Coolio song, 'Gangster's Paradise.'"

I'd go with the cog. Personally, I'd go with the cog, but xerox it a bunch of times, then blow it up with the xerox, then decrease it, so it just becomes a collection of dots (obviously, you can do this in photoshop with far less work/money, but xerox is totally diy punx rawk, d00d), but you know, that's personal preference. I like the cog idea in general, though.

Anyway, that's my two cents.

INCOMING!

I hope you have a healthy appetite for pie.

Yah, you could be right about the whole Skull & bones being overdone. Besides I'm not that much of a "rebel" rider anyway. I ride safe always.

Stash Pocket? I keep one rolled in my smokes if I'm gonna have one outside a safe place like my house. If I need to transport it's in with my spare tube, inside my tool pouch. sides' all stash pockets are advertised on the websites in big neon letters, the best place is one you make yourself. Last bag I had it was in the shoulder strap pad, held a half ounce no problem and you couldnt smell or feel it there. I've had other bags, just not a custom flap.

Yeah I think the price was a big reason that I settled on this company. I had visited all the others websites before I even knew about this one, found it through google which led me to the review on the forum i was already on (duh) but the sstitching too, when I went and saw some examples of the custom work. big close up pictures

and
http://www.under-the-weather.ca/images/DohMessLg.jpg
and

when I saw the one that sez "doh!" instead of Dole is when I emailed them, wanted it. freaked me out the told me no! they only do originals, no repeats. if two guys ask for skulls or something they both get them, but totally different ones. f***ed up. that and the price decided it i guess, and they were real nice telling me no, which isn't something you're supposed to tell a possible sale.

i'm leaning towards cog on yellow with a green body like the tree one there i think

As far as cordura they said they had it or could get it.

Chromes aren't bad, but thye aren't custom

glowingrod 10-31-04 07:50 AM

Yep, decided to go with the 16 cog on the flap w/colors! all ordered and being made now,
thanks vomitron for re-inforcing what I was kinda thinking myself, too many skulls out there.

I'll post up a pic of my bag when they send it to me, they said they'd put it on their website but that they hadnt updated in a bit so it could be a while. Can't wait! looove new stuff!

HereNT 10-31-04 08:05 AM

You should have gone with an 11t cog.

and a 53t chainring. one on each end. Show them that you're hard.

glowingrod 10-31-04 12:06 PM

hehe, yeah i thought of that, but then I'd have to draw it myself and I'm lazy. besides I ride 48-16 all winter through ice & snow for 8 hours a day. That's hard enuff for me! I save the other ratios for when I'm lucky enough to be on a track

kurremkarm 10-31-04 10:43 PM

I think their customs r quite nice, cant go wrong there.

sxe fbm rider 11-01-04 11:04 AM

Dose that under weather place have a web-site? I couldnt find it on google...

kurremkarm 11-01-04 11:14 AM

sxe fbm rider 11-01-04 01:29 PM

No problem. I wish I could be that astute when making decision regarding my purchases. Then maybe I wouldn't have to keep pretending I'm "just being ironic" when I buy the stupid/useless crap/make the stupid decision I do.

Word on the bag, though. If I don't end up making my own, I'll probably buy an under-the-weather.

jitensha! 11-02-04 07:22 PM

nice bags, but reload's custom stuff is much hotter, imo...

SD Fixed 11-03-04 08:41 PM

Well if you put a strap on a piece of **** and pushed a small hole in it, it'd be a custom bag.. made out of ****.

Custom.. sure, but anyone with a machine could make a bag. Are you buying for looks or for use? Me thinks looks, and you're undecided at that.

SammieLu 11-03-04 10:18 PM

I decided on my new bag too (since I'm steadily ripping a hole in my now-ancient Timbuk2) - black with red trim, red straps, and two rows of small D rings down the back in which to lace red elastic in xxxxx rows, corset style, at an angle so the row is vertical when the bag is on my back. Methinks it'll be HOT.
Now to decide on the size and which local custom bag maker to go with (Dank or Reload) I don't think I need a huge one, except for grocery day.

Shiznaz 11-05-04 09:18 PM

What do you guys think of my design for a custom bag? Think any bag makers would be able to pull it off really nicely? I emailed under the weather about it and I'm waiting on a reply. They would be a bonus because they are local and have good prices. Hey Sam Houston, you should know, your girlfriend runs that company right?

Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe some imperialist logo or the like in the bottom right corner....

HereNT 11-06-04 12:05 AM

I'd see if you can get some heavy duty cloth and have someone silkscreen it first, then weatherproof it and send it to them to make the bag...

It might work. I don't know how much you can really do with cloth as a medium.

lucklust 11-06-04 02:49 AM

Dagnabbit... your posts make too much sense now!

So says the devil of booze sitting on your left shoulder.

I'm trying to figure out what your image is... Not that I don't like it, it's either a mushroom or a nuclear blast... or perhaps a bit of ...pie!

I've never been able to decide on an overall design, which is why my bag just uses buttons and patches...
