Forget about the seat tube length and standover. It's the top tube length that matters most. In your case, I'd go with the 49cm (XS), because you have relatively long legs relative to your torso, and the TT length on the 52cm (S) frame is a relatively long 53cm. Also, these bikes have very long head tubes, and if you get the 52cm, you may have to live with a lot of bar rise.

Thanks for the reply! That helps a lot and pretty much backed up my own thoughts. I spent a lot of time measuring yesterday and top tube length for the XS fits me better, but everything else seemed just a tad too small.

Looks like the only change is a $10 increase in price.
http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...rack_bikes.htm Different and lighter crank, brakes, rims, plus something about the aluminum being better in some way. I picked one up. Should be here Wednesday. |

I emailed BD to find out what the differences were. If they've upgraded the tubeset, I might be tempted.
|
Got an email from BD saying they'll update the spec page soon.
From the BD page: "Forks are now higher tech Straight Blade Carbon" |

I don't think so. The 2011 and 2012 specs look identical to me:
2011 >>> http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...rack_bikes.htm 2012 >>> http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/...track.htm#size Gravity Attack + $10 = Gravity Swift2 Read the page carefully, it lists whats new. As someone else said the specs page will be updated soon to show the differences. |

I did read it carefully. Those changes were not there when I made my post.

the recent changes were just new colors and the cro-mo fork. The other stuff was there before, but no worries.

The 2012 Swift has Cromo fork.
The swift2 has carbon fork. |

I really dig the new carbon fiber fork and that the decal is smaller than the old one. The bikes decently light, probably around 21ish pounds when you have everything on it. Its probably at about 19.5 the way i have it set up. (ill take off the chain guard too to lose a little more) It rides really smooth, and is much easier than my last bike. The seat is really firm which im not used to but will give it a week to see how i feel about it. Pedals are basic boring. (MKS GR-9's will be here today!) The wheels are true and pretty light. I flipped and chopped the road drops into bullhorns and threw some blue fizik wrap on em. I took off the back brake and left one lever for the front brake. So far really enjoying it. I'll prob go ahead and get a carbon fiber seatpost for looks and a little dampening. The bike handles super nice. Thats the most noticeable thing to me. Its responsive but not as responsive as the higher end aluminum bikes ive been on. Enough for me to be happy for in town riding. The gearing is at 46x16 which is a little higher than i am used to, but i have another cog so i may swap it out. Overall a fantastic bike for the price and leaves plenty of room for upgrades.
Ill post a pic once ive colored the back rim...im thinking either purple, neon green, or blue...what do you guys think? http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...e/P1010044.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...e/P1010043.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...e/P1010046.jpg http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g1...e/P1010039.jpg |
Just a little advice, when posting pictures of a bike, it's best to post drive side photos if you can.
|
What size is that bike?
What size is this Swift2? Can we see the drive side?
Thanks for the photos! |
don't paint the rim..
maybe invest in a cross/tt lever? the hood looks kinda dorky hehe and the reflectors have gotta go! |
