Last night my gf and I rode up to a northside bar (a half-hour ride) to do some drinkin' with her friends. It was a glorious 70 degrees out with a strong tail wind, so we flew along effortlessly and got there in record time. Having to work this morning, I cut out after a couple of beers and headed back into a steep headwind. I caught up with a CTA bus about half way back and drafted it a good portion of the way home. In the sudden absence of head wind, I felt like I had been grabbed and was being forcefully sucked along behind the bus. It got scary as I started spinning out with the bus ten feet in front of me. I realized I was white-knuckling my brakeless track drops; things getting awfully tense at 20mph+ behind an unpredictable wall of steel. I had to ease off every time it slowed to pick up passengers, and after a third of the way home, decided to ride the rest of the way on my own. It would have been nice to have a brake for that ride.
Anyone have good drafting stories? How about techniques for avoiding the potholes and debris that jump out from beneath the fast moving bus/truck? Isn't this fall weather ****ing wonderful? |
Jim Drunkenmiller was the biggest waste of a 1st round draft pick, sf people can feel me I'm sure. Let's see, MONTANA, YOUNG, Drunkenmiller? I don't think so..

my dad tried enlisting three times for Vietnam. he feet were flat. he had a high draft number.

My dad was drafted for Vietnam. He was in prison for driving a large truck full of Mary Jane, and had Hepatitis C from shooting speed. They decided they didn't want him.

My dad came over from Italy in 75 after serving in the Italian navy as a rower, the story goes that his boat was 1/100 of a second from making it to the olympics. He might be exaggerating, I'm not sure.

Had some sushi and Sapporo Draft last night in Little Tokyo here in L.A. Going back for some ramen tonight.

I can't believe it took that long for meaning #6 to surface. Good work boys!

I'm working on a draft of a document that I need to have finalized by Monday.
|
As winter comes on, my apartment's pretty cold.
|
Drafty rooms are the worst. Is the draft coming from the door or the windows?

I may just say screw the apartment and live in a houseboat for the winter. It doesn't take much water to stay afloat.
|
But then you run the risk of being damp and drafty.
|
Can you still buy those x-ray glasses from the back pages of comic books? They may help you to see potholes through a bus.
Regarding drafts, I recommend new underwear. |
That only works with tighties.

I think you're all draft! no wait, that's daft.
as to post #6-wouldn't that be draught beer? |
I have a friend who's 6'5" and weighs 300 pounds, on windy days when we ride i make him go in front.
But because he is so big, im very careful not to tell him what im doing. :P |
I once read that the Titanic had a draft of 34'7". Too much, I guess!

Thinking of getting a drafting table.

shokhead, you list So Cal as location. You don't have winter.
|
And by "draft" do you mean "ride"?
