Not technically today, but given my day yesterday ended somewhere in the 3am range I'm going to count it anyway.
Work was slow so I got off early. Biked downtown to Wabi Cycles warehouse, picked up my rear wheel which was rebuilt by hand from Richard (yes, its awesome) and chilled there for 30 minutes shooting the **** and learning whatever I could. I picked up a wabi saddle which is an unbranded Velo because the asshatchet that Jdgesus included with the Trek was about to make me kill myself (constantly getting sores and ingrown hairs from the way it fit me.) The Wabi saddle is stupid comfortable for $30. Hit my friend up who lives a few miles away near MacArthur Park, we kicked it at the park and watched some cute lil sqrl doing laps around the lake. Dipped home to go do some work on my bike. ended up with no tools since I left them at a friends when I went to a party this last weekend and never picked them up, on my way home to Echo Park I ran into a few boys from the 'hood and ended up going to their spot to work on my bike before Monday Night Rehab, see teaser video below Fight was diverted when someone jumped on me, which confused me considering I was empty handed. As we bounced from the stop a girl borrowing my road bike got a flat, we stopped, fixed it and the ride left. The boys from the 'hood and I decided to skip the train and take the Cahuenga Pass home and we mashed through the Orange Line bus path like beasts, a good 14 mile ride to hollywood, stopped on hollywood and highland to smoke, drink some water and ran into some people getting off the train home. Went to BCD Tofu house and ate then leisurely rode back to Echo Park. Can't complain, the night was god damn awesome P.S. I also cut a nice sized hole into my hand while shaving off callouses P.S.S. I'm going to write a nice letter to Richard from Wabi and see if he'd give me an internship or apprenticeship at his shop. |

surprised you rode it for as long as you did |
Today I received the Metropolis I ordered from the sale. Tried it on, but I'm going to have to adjust to using a single strap, since I'm so used to normal backpacks (have Ortlieb Messenger Classic atm). It's yellow, purple, and full of awesome. It looks huge on my 5'8" frame, but it's all good. I'll have to try it out a little later when I fill it with **** and head out to Trader Joe's, the library, and the farmers' market.

Since this is my first time on the webz in a little over three days,
Saturday- I wrecked my leader 725 after going through an intersection with a green light and having to dodge a car making a left turn (coming from the opposing direction). I woke up in the E.R a hour later with no memory before going through the intersection. Found out later that I speared a light pole with my right shoulder and neck at ~25. Sunday- Early morning I had a CT scan and was transfered to ICU. Bleeding from two spots on my brain, fractured collar bone, and I was put on a non oral diet. Saturday- Had the second CT scan and it came back with positive results. Contacted the police about my bike, and they had no report. Monday- contacted police again hoping something turned up. Finally got off of the non oral diet after 40 hours and was moved to the floor. I was discharged from the hospital around 6 pm. Tuesday- Spent the previous night and morning sleeping and then filed a police report for my bike and an insurance claim and spent the day eating and recovering. It was a really long weekend, but I am glad I made it out in as good of shape as I did. Now I'm searcing for a new bike to fill the hole in my heart... |
Dude... that sucks. Get better soon!
|
That is horrible, heal up.

Forgot the most important part, WEAR A HELMET.
No, I wasn't wearing one... I know.. |
Today, I woke up and it was foggy...I thought I would have to take my car to work.......Got out of the shower and the sun was out.......Took my bicycle to work....I was glad I did as traffic going to Brooklyn was backed up on Staten Island................I must have been the envy of all those drivers as the traffic was at a standstill...........Road rage was evident..............Been bicycling to work at least 3 times a week....................I love it...........

Today I found myself in possession of another tubular wheel. Hint: odd number of spokes. It's not the tarck-obvious.

Edit: Today I realized that my bike feels like a hovercraft with my new wheelset. Especially after riding with B43s/Phils for so long. :O |
