Hmmm, I get people lifting all my bikes multi and single speed. Well, except for the Western Flyer. No one wants to get a hernia.

RGNY 10-16-11 08:06 AM

heh, right on. i had a '46 Western Flyer (integral rear rack) and i know for a fact that it was more than a match for so called '5mph bumpers'. :)

hamfoh 10-16-11 09:52 AM

today I picked up my future 'beater' - the guy had a trainer sitting next to it that he tossed in for $20 as well. my first trainahhh

who wants to trade me something for some scott aerobars!?

anyone know what the clamp on this quill stem is or the best way to measure it? all I have is 'tape' measure so I'm guessing that will be a *****.

homebrewk 10-16-11 10:05 AM

I have no idea.

Try using one of these:

TB-14 Rims
Campagnolo Pista Hubs
DT Swiss Spokes

Too bad I don't have a truing stand, that would be fun

homebrewk 10-16-11 10:35 AM

1) no one wants the aerobars. i tried to sell some for $10 on my local CL. ended up donating to bike co-op.

2) 26.0. i can tell by the pixels.

are you singlespeeding it for a beater or are you going to post it next week in the 'show us your geared bike' thread with new tires and bartape?

I'd bet my left eyebrow it's 25.4mm.

if its a cinelli bar/stem combo and its 26.0 will you shave off said eyebrow?

Scrodzilla 10-16-11 11:25 AM

It depends on how drunk I am.

uketastic 10-16-11 03:12 PM

Yesterday some guy in an SUV literally came within a couple inches of hitting me and running me over with his car while I was riding down Broadway.

homebrewk 10-16-11 03:38 PM

Today some total **** came barreling down the road behind us at 60 mph in a Porsche 911. The speed limit was 25.

Gotta love cars sometimes, right?

xavier853 10-16-11 03:54 PM

Today, I went for a ride despite how insane the wind was. Then the insane wind turned into wind and rain.

Should have checked the weather. Now im really tired and really wet

Leukybear 10-16-11 03:58 PM

Today is my rest/ recovery day and I finally got the chance to salvage the tossed mcintosh 275 my wife found on the street; the vacuum tube set finally came yesterday during our ride. One bag of carrots later, 6 broken tube caps were removed and one potentially expensive gamble paid off. Just chilling and meditating to music now; the experience is so much more gratifying after you spent 3 painstaking hours repairing it yourself.

My computer broke but my parents got a family plan for iphones. The only thing I can't do is watch porn. At least I can lurk here

I also helped some guy at the co op with his Caad 9. A real Frankenstein bike. Sora shifters, tiagra RD, ultegra FD, no name cranks, dura ace 7800 outer chainring, wobbly **** bmx pedals, a big dent on the TT. Everything was out adjustment and the shifters were so freaking clunky

Then that's useless.

You can now retaliate avner's facebook status with yours.

Spent the afternoon with my step son tuning up and upgrading his beloved Peugeot UO8... a little crash wrecked the stock crank which had to be cut off and then we replaced that with a newer road double and Suntour drive parts.

Will be adding some fenders and studded tyres later this week as he wants to ride through the winter... had upgraded the wheels a few years ago to some very nice alloy ones which are still running nice and true.

And then we went for coffee and cruised the mall... I don't get to see him often enough as he is a grown man and has a job and other young guy stuff to do but it was a great afternoon.

And we both rode our Peugeots... like father, like son.

I was riding on post after coming in from town, and some ***** almost took me out with how close she was.

The side mirror was so close to my arm.

Why's that? If it's a financial thing, best of luck to you and hope you end moving on to better things. Like I tell my relatives, resistance of change isn't always worth fighting for.

Yeah I left the tag on :p

It feels ****ing amazing, seriously, the most comfortable thing ever. I just did 40 miles on it today (see below) on SF's ****ty streets and my ass feels great, haha. I agree it looks a bit odd, but I just don't care; the dip in the middle fits my sit bones perfectly, it's narrow at 129mm, but it fits my 5'8, 148# frame. When I'm really hammering in the drops the full cutout and dipped nose are just splendid. No more saddle-nose jabbing at my taint.

Anyway: Today I bummed around SF with some friends (Jaytron and danvuquoc on this board). Such a great way to end the weekend!

First we stopped by the Rapha Cycle Club for some coffee, quiche, giro, and oogling sweet digs.
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-9...016_124921.jpg

Then we hightailed it over the bridge and got a bit of climbing in (hats off to Jaytron for doing that climb to Vista Point on 75gi of fixed goodness...).
https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-j...016_140057.jpg

Went to Underdog's Taco Shop for beers and fish tacos, then to San Tung for delicious chicken (we fatz).

Not a bad way to finish off the weekend!

Today I failed while wrapping my LizardSkins. Sigh.

redpear 10-16-11 08:55 PM

I was just out there. If you don't mind, I'd love to join you next time.

I've never wrapped bars in ~1.5 years of cycling - True story. Hahaha.

Sure! As long as you don't mind hanging with some roadies (my fixed was stolen so all I have is my Cervelo).
