They claim it weighs 16.8, I'd bet on 17-ish. Big deal, that is a really damn lightweight steel bike with disc brakes.

I trust them because they actually weigh their own parts (unfortunately as you experienced, without compensating for the differences in weight across various sizes), rather than going off weight given from manufacturers.

I'm not stressing about it--CC is a great shop, and loyalty is a big part of the reason I'm considering buying the Le Roi Le Veut. CC wouldn't sell a ****ty bike.

One thing you may want to consider is the sizing of the bars, amount of bar tape, stem length, crank arm length, etc. when comparing parts on their smallest frame, vs. the larger frames, and extra material for the larger sized frame... all of this could easily exceed a pound of weight.

My BMC roadie came with 440mm width bars, 110mm stem, and 175mm cranks which I'm sure isn't the case for the smaller sized frames.

I'm a fairly small guy, so mine came with 42cm bars, a 110mm stem, and 172.5mm cranks. I'm no weight-weenie anyway...my bike and I combined weigh around 160lbs, so it's not something I really need to worry about.

I'm being told I had a dozen shots, four beers, and two pint-glasses of whiskey and coke last night. Stupid. Very, very stupid. Today, I've had a Bloody Mary, an Ommegang Witte, chilaquiles, a grilled cheese sandwich, a Red Bull, some Tylenol, and a bunch of water. I also had to deep clean my kitchen, because I'm getting a "surprise" health inspection tomorrow. I think I'm gonna bail on my friends tonight and just go home.

Ugghh! I was so kicking ass at poker until...

I get a QQ. Other lady raises it to 4x blind to stay in. I just call. (maybe the wrong choice there, shoulda re-raised)

Flop is 78Q. Play to me. I check. She bets like 8x blind. I push all in. She calls. Gets the straight on the river. I simultaneously hate/love poker right now. Still lov e burgers and tater tots. And this place has the best tunes ever. Pretenders, Joe Jackson, XTC, New Order, Nick Cave, GoGos, Joy Division. All the good 80s ****

I still vow not to be hungover tomorrow. Eating a pickle and drinking lots of water. Might need a bourbon and coke nightcap tho

Nagrom_ 05-13-12 10:15 PM

You got Jamie Gold'd.

Hard.

I've never hated a 65 year old lady more than that on Mother's Day :)

Leukybear 05-14-12 01:57 AM

Well today, or should I say yesterday, was a day for the ladies. Brunch & shopping with mom followed with dinner & shopping with my beloved one and only; topping it all off with the avengers.

ddeadserious 05-14-12 06:45 AM

Today, I rode my bike to work. I hope to ride at least 3 more days this week; maybe all four if I can convince myself to ride with a backpack one more day.

Today I am giving my friend's dog his spring haircut... he's a 90 pound Shepard cross and it is like shearing a gentle little lamb.

My Shih Tzu is harder to trim up then he is and takes longer as she was traumatized by some groomer my wife hired and has never like the clippers since and actually needs a little sedation to get through it.

Got my final grade for the semester.

Do you know how jacked up it is to be 38, in your final year of undergrad work and already accepted into a MA program and get your "report card" and want to go to Chuck E. Cheeses?

Cause those mother****ers owe me free gameplay for my FOUR ACES baby.

Now 7 days until vacation and life is getting sweeter than ever.

Oh yeah, miss you guys, been busy as ****. I'll be more active on the boards again sooner or later.

hamfoh 05-14-12 01:43 PM

today I got some mail

immediately took off my soma cog with my hozan lockring pliars. felt a little awkward trying to grab both handle and apply leverage but even my first time using it was an improvement over a standard lockring tool. think I'd still use a standard for putting a lockring on, if I had both, because the leverage was almost too much? when putting it on. I didn't know quite when to stop because I felt like I could apply it so tight I could spin the cog too eventually. though chalk this review up to a 1 time use. if you don't have either, seems like a no brainer to just get this one when you make your first lockring tool purchase, and scrod has it much cheaper than elsewhere

either way, getting squeaks from my drive train. if I spin really fast you don't hear it, but starting up and slowing down it's mr squeaky. arms and chainring bolts are tight, just cleaned and lubed the chain as well. heeelp

How long is your commute? I've been doing it the last week or so, about 7 miles each way for my third shift job, and carrying food and water and a lock and everything else starts to get real heavy when you have a **** ton of hills to climb.

Mine's almost 8 miles each way, but there is literally no good routes. Just some routes are better than others. I brought a backpack today because although I had a change of clothes here, I didn't have any shoes here, and clomping around in road shoes all day would be silly. I generally can fit everything I need to change a tube+water+wallet in my Seagull hip pack so I don't end up having too much junk to carry.Fortunately it's an easy ride, but most of it is sidewalk and I loathe riding on the sidewalk. I'd really like to keep it up, it's just so hard to get out of bed early enough to get here around 8.

At one time I had a 17 mile one-way commute that I did every day. Granted it was in super-flat Chicago, but it wasn't tough. I carried a backpack with my mac, a couple school notebooks, and my work clothes, which was usually a suit and dress shoes, and a couple days a week also included soccer shoes for pickup games after class. The key: get a good backpack. I swear by my Chrome Ivan.

ddeadserious 05-14-12 02:37 PM

I have a nice Incase backpack that I bought specifically for riding with my computer/schoolbooks in it, but I just hate having anything on my back when riding. It gets all sweaty and crap.

Sixty Fiver 05-14-12 03:41 PM

Riding in hot weather with anything on your back is going to be a sweat fest... hence the reason my more utilitarian bikes have racks and can carry a pannier, briefcase, or computer bag which are all set up with quick release clips.

mashtofu 05-14-12 03:49 PM

Today it's been four months since I had to put down my baby boy. I hate everything and I want the whole world to go away.

Yeah I try not to wear the backpack if I'm going somewhere and not changing, but the way I see it is that I'm going to be changing clothes at work anyway, so I don't care if my back gets sweaty.
