Received my Euro-G cap from Retrogression today. Didn't fit as I fully expected (CURSE THIS AFRO), so the girlfriend claimed it as her own. :P

c02 is cool, but pumps are mandatory, as are patch kits.
what happens when you get more flats then c02 cartridges?

fwiw i also use c02 and rarely, rarely have to use my pump or patch kit. but when i do, im real glad that they're there.

Found out why I've killed 4 tubes in the past week with weird looking failures all in the same place: there's a tear in the tire bead and it's all deteriorating, when I rubbed it some more fell off and now there's about 1/2" completely missing. The tire's only about 2 months old, too. Cheap commuter tire (Kenda Kwest) but still; ugh. Warranty replacement, I hope.

On the positive side, putting two layers of gaffer's tape in place of the missing section of bead held up just fine for my ~6 mile ride home. But I definitely don't trust it to hold for too much longer that way before killing another tube.

Today I placed 8th in a Strava segment on my commute home.
Then I saw that it was out of 9 people.

I installed the Strava app like a year ago and have yet to even try using it... maybe i'll try it on my commute, I take a very popular route.

The new Dirt Jump spot, has been plowed. Am pissed off right now.

C02 cartridges are small. Carry a few of them instead of the pump. Profit.

window motor and door handle on my drivers side are both broke, i have to open the car from the passenger side and open the other door to let myself in

apparently i also need stabilizer links a valve cover gasket and a serpentine belt

good thing i only drive on fridays

Wow, that is way too much money to be paying for tires. Unless you own a monster truck a race car or your buying tires for 4 vehicles at once you should be able to do better than $1100. I buy used tires here in FL and pay $30-40 a tire (balanced and mounted) depending on how much tread they have on them. I never buy new tires but if I did I would order them through the internet and have a mechanic install them.

No doubt. Go to tire rack and get rims and tires for less than that.

Last new set of Firestones for my old Corolla cost $200.

I also hit up Ed's Hi Treads for $20 Apiece good used tires

I love that you guys have no idea what car he drives or in what conditions, yet you feel comfortable making assessments about how much money he should be spending. EVERYONE'S A GENIUS ON THE INTERNET.

I drive a performance car and adhere to the methodology that
1. tires are the most important piece of kit on the car.
2. I will not decrease my cars performance with crappy tires.
3. Good/wide tires just cost $$$$, fact of life.


Its not a ripoff situation its a, "pay to play situation" :) If you have never done some track time or driven a set of proper tires you would know why its worth it.


p.s. dont some of you spend 100 on tires for a bicycle? my tires are 265/35 now compare that to your 25c tire :)

Yes indeed I am... but my budget is not :) conflict of interest and unexpected cost. I also dropped 1k on brakes 1 month ago and 1 k on my 30k service so the feeling is compounded.
