Dude, I had listings up on eBay and CL recently. I completely know the feeling.

"Wheelset and saddle in a couple of the pictures are only there to show you what the bike could look like built up. Everything else is for sale. I am not parting it out, so don't ask."

"Is it for sale as a complete?"

"How much for just the frameset?"

"I don't want the whole thing, but I like the saddle. I'll give you $40 for it."

"Is the case of Zombie Dust in the background for sale? If so, how much?"

****ing people, man.

For a while I had pipe dreams of actually doing legit races and things like that, but losing that desire feels very liberating in a strange way. ie-never have to think about grams n' gruppos

Don't have to worry about that stuff, but I do have to with wind speed, direction, line, approach and run out. This will likely be my last year doing anything serious with the dmr.

I found a nickel plated fork to match my nickel plated frame, but $425. :( Way past my fork budget!

Out of curios, where is this?
You could've gotten one of those odd ball nickel/ metal plated kilo tt's for that price.

They want 1100 dollars for a fork? what the actual ****?

LesterOfPuppets 03-27-13 11:48 AM

Isn't a Ti fork with crazy lugs going halfway down the legs worth it? You'd probably be the first of your doctor buddies to have one :)

Unicrown too :notamused:

Leukybear 03-27-13 11:54 AM

Speaking of which the fork that you're after looks a lot like kona's retro road fork which comes with many of their steel framesets, including my paddywagon.
They're only 1 1/8ths I believe.

my lbs got the replacement fork through bikesdirect, which I'm sure made them joyous, so Im pretty sure they are just giving me one of the forks from those shiny TT's. we will see hopefully before the end of the week, now I just need to get some shiny chains to match it; maybe even a big pendant that says "KiloLyfe". Gotta stay real

step 1) sign up
step 2) pin number
step 3) ride in circles

taking it seriously is an option that you may want to consider if you find yourself on the pointy end of p/1/2 races. otherwise you're just an ordinary hack like me: in it for fun.
if you have a any competitive bones in your body and you enjoy riding hard/fast, then I encourage you to try racing in any cycling discipline.

ppls who worry about grams and gruppos are top level pros or cat 6 wanabees

TMonk 03-27-13 12:45 PM

also given the distribution of talent in the 5's, i guarantee you will be far from the slowest in the face

but probs also far from the fastest too :thumb:

This.

There is a dude tearing up the local scene here in the bay area. Started as a fixiefamous messenger type, got a ****ty old cannondale caad6 with 105 components and entered some races. Put in his 10 races, got out of Cat 4 in 3 races (two wins and a podium) and is now doing well in Cat 3 races... on the same bike.

It's not about the bike or grams or grouppos.

See I think maybe I was born without these.

TMonk 03-27-13 03:26 PM

then there is no reason to race

unless of course, you want to, but that would mean you're atleast mildly competitive

Today I warrantied my Specialized Romin because it was making terrifying noise. Saddle #2 was clicking and squeaking. Saddle #3 only slightly squeaks and the shop doesn't have anymore to switch out. Wtf Specialized, where is the quality control for a $100 saddle? I'm now waiting on a 4th saddle but I'm committed to the randonneur so I will be on a squeaky saddle until next week.
