Are Stems Universal ?

I have some Masi stem and drops , but the stem is 1" I think . Are stem's flexible to fit 1 1/8" ? I don't have a newer fork right now so I haven't had the time to test fit it on . Anybody know If I'll need a new stem ?

EDIT: It's a threadless stem if it makes a difference .

hell no.

most are 1 1/8 though. if yours is a 1" don't put it on a 1 1/8, if you stretch it it will break.

Fork tube is 1 1/8"? I think you're out of luck if that's the case.

Pretty much what people are trying to say is that no, a 1" stem can't fit onto the 1 1/8" steerer.

You can get a 1 1/8" stem to fit on a 1" steerer with a shim.

(only a bigger stem can mayb fit onto a smaller fork, not the other way around.

In some parts of the universe they don't even have bikes.

and then there is bar clamp size to worry about...

also consider stack height. most stems are around 40mm but they can vary sometimes but make sure to measure and find out.
