Fixed gear conversion to single speed?
 

Quick question, say you have a fixed gear and after a while you want to change it to a single speed so you can coast with it. For me it seems coasting is more simpler because of bikes I have ridden before. All you really have to do to change a fixed gear to a singles speed is to get a flip flop hub? Since it is the same bike, will it be the same speed? I see people with fixed gear style bikes (all hipstered out) coasting with it and it seems like a simpler process. (kilo tt pro)
So all I'm really asking is if you have a fixed gear and you want to convert it into a single speed so you can coast is changing the hub all you have to do?
What other processes are there?

well it depends how you did your conversion...is your rear hub already flip-flop? do you have a picture?

Are you saying you have a kilo tt? If so you just need to have a freewheel installed on the other side of your hub. I personally am getting sick of my ss. Riding on campus is a pain especially when I have to ride slow when there are a bunch of people around. Using my brake constantly drives me nuts.

If you don't have a flip flop hub and you put kilo in your post for some other reason then there are a couple different ways it will need to be done but like docboyd said we're going to have to see your setup.

screw on a freewheel, that's it.
