Worth Building Up?
Saw this Araya frame on CL and immediately thought 'build up'. Assuming those chips and markings are just paint, thoughts?

Cranks, no

From the surface corrosion, it really looks like the frame is made out of hi ten....

That looks like a pretty low end bike.As far as Hi-Ten,there are different grades, just like cro-mo.15G electro forged schwinns are anchors. So are many low end taiwanese frames from the end of the bike boom.My hi-ten shogun frame on the other hand weighs the same as my columbus tenax le tour luxe and the moto mirage i had weighed the same as my 4130 pake.

It's a low end bike, and in rather rough shape. I'd pay maybe $25 for it. Build it up into a cheap SS if you want, but don't bother with a new wheelset to make it FG.

Throw it into the nearest body of water.

If I saw it at the dump, I'd probably grab it... Rummage sale for $20, probably not.
