I contacted Affinity and got a nice, quick reply:

Hey Albert, production ran about a month behind schedule. Frames should
be shipping any day, so we will now have them in mid July. I apologize
for the delay. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Ben
Mid-July, awesome. Can't wait. Hopefully I'll have enough money by then...

affinity lo pro-current set up by hwdxbassist, on Flickr

Here's my current set up. Im 5'7'' this is a size small frame. I sold my bullhorns so im riding these regular city bars, until I find ones I like. The tire clearance is super tight!!!!!! the handling is amazing.

seau grateau 06-16-11 01:21 PM

I love my Lo Pro. The geometry seems weird but it handles beautifully in the street. Makes my road bike feel sluggish.

redpear 06-16-11 02:25 PM

The weird thing about the geometry for me is that the effective top tube is my perfect length, but the seat tube (traditional sizing) is so long. Is that why so many Lo Pro builds I see show very little seatpost?

They are built to look like a lat 80s/ early 90s persuit frame, but ride like the standard road fixed bike. Its done by elongating the seat tube, but not changing any of the demensions of the frame. The black line on this image is basically what affinity has done. No difference in ride quality, just in looks and seat tube measurement, for the most part.

It's not just that, I think. Based on the charts, the angles are pretty steep, and the chainstays are pretty short. Perhaps not a fixed road frame, but definitely made to be a twitchy and track.

Kayce 06-16-11 02:41 PM

I said all that after borrowing a low pro for about a month, Ive never actually looked at the charts. But after looking at it, nothing makes sense about the quality. Having the same stay length over 8cm in tt length and not being able to say the ht angle just screams poor product to me.

seau grateau 06-16-11 02:52 PM

The HT thing is a little weird, and I'm surprised they haven't updated that yet, but why should chainstay length change?

As the seat tube gets longer, or taller, it will extend further over the rear wheel because of the angle. So a 52cm will have the edge of the seat tube overlapping the tire by 2cm, and a 63cm frame would have it overlapping by 5cm. (Just an example, don't anyone go measuring on me now.)
So instead a frame could extend out the chainstays like 1cm for every 3cm longer the seat tube is, to maintain the same feel in the rear end. Most the time on an aggressive frame like that you want the wheel to be as close to the seat tube as possible though.

ugh... mid july... was gonna buy one for my birthday, which was beginning of june. been fiending for a super nice present for myself. oh well.. gonna let that cash burn a bigger hole in my pocket i guess

and as far as the geometry goes, i have to say that whatever they're doing btwn the TT length and chainstay length, it's all good stuff. can't wait to get my dirty little fingers all over it

Definitely tarck geo. Seems to elongate the TT for a shorter wheelbase, like the pursuit bikes of yore. Minus the 24" wheel and fork.

Haven't checked the actual charts, but that fork---might be the geo---looks a little road.

I know I'm bumping this shizz again but I DGAF because I have actual news this time--July 25 is the official restocking date. Apparently they're updating the shop right now and will do an announcement very soon...probably tomorrow.

evilcryalotmore 07-25-11 01:31 AM

If your in California, Check out LAbrakelss, They've seen a couple in circulation that are in all sizes.

seau grateau 07-25-11 01:34 AM

This wouldn't be the first time Affinity has pushed a date back. I think they make some really cool stuff, and I love my Lo-Pro, but you have to keep in mind that they are a relatively young shop and a pretty small operation, so they may not hold to these dates for a number of reasons.

Yeah, I know. I mean, the geometry chart for the Lo Pro is all sorts of screwed up. But in the end it's all about the product, and it seems like everyone's happy with their Lo Pro. I hope to get mine. I'm in no rush.

evil--thanks for the tip. I have family in San Diego, but LA would still be quite a trip even if I visited them. I did check their website though, and it says they are temporarily unavailable. I know that websites don't necessarily reflect store stock, however.

Today I went into Box Dog and they had a couple Lo Pros, one built up, one frameset, but both in the 650c size. Apparently they're not dealing with Affinity anymore, which is a real shame...

hwdxbassist 07-25-11 10:07 PM

I just thought I would show everyone that my lo pro build is 90% complete all it needs is some RB-02's

xkillemallx16 07-25-11 10:22 PM

hwdxbassist 07-26-11 06:01 AM

Thank you, its super fun on the streets.

Yes it is a size Small. The bars are meh..Bullhorns will help a lot since ive been doing semi-long distance rides and epic climbs:thumb:

cinemattic 07-26-11 08:36 AM

just thought i'd throw this out there:

affinity has gotten their shipment in from across the water. their containers are just waiting to go through customs. i heard that in the shop they got a total of 400 frames in different sizes. sounds pretty sick to me. i'm gonna stay on top of em until i finally see the 400 frames in the shop...

cinemattic 07-29-11 03:47 PM

well, i just got my new 2012 Lo Pro!! i was the first one to walk out the store with it. so stoked about that. pictures? suuuure....

http://www.pedalroom.com/p/affinity-green-lo-2812_2.jpg

they didn't have any bullhorns in the store that would fit the 25.4 clamp of the stem, so i settled for risers for the time being. lookin to swap those out...

what do you guys think?

chenghiz 07-29-11 03:52 PM

Looks really clean, I like it. Why are your photos blurred at the top and bottom, though? Fake tilt-shift effect?

longjohns 07-29-11 03:59 PM

my brother in law picked up a chrome one. so tempted to pick one up!

yea.. everyone in the shop keeps calling it the "chro-pro" it looks so stellar in person. i heavily debated between the green and the chrome. but i've never seen a color like the green one. it's got silver, grey, charcoal, and such a light hint of green
