Wow, just came across this Moser this morn. My goodness, that would be one sexy beast. This is what my current bike would look like if I ran into a wall.

Lets post pics of "dream" or otherwise fixies - ones you don't have, but have seen and lusted after.

it definitely looks like it spent a drunken night walking on the wrong side of the tracks...

I know some of you regard it as some sort of character flaw, but I do love the Airborne Sortie.

You can get that thing down to 13 pounds.

Fugazi Dave 11-02-04 11:38 AM

See, now you're just trying to make me cry because I don't own it.

Why do pursuit frames have to look like they're trying too hard?

Apart from being fast, the Lotus is not high on my list. Its monocoque frame means that the frame itself needs to be filled in giving it too much visual mass, plus the bars are built for TT--period, and they're wicked low meaning double-plus uncomfortable. The Cervelo and especially the Corima are hott.

I don't understand, and I don't want to understand.

While my own ride is approaching a mix of modern meets lugged, there are two bikes I like which fit in the modern mold.

This is one - http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2004/b/eric.htm, it has a similar counterpart here in Chicago.

The other one is this http://www.feltracing.com/2005_bikes.../TK-2-copy.jpg

don't care. i'm not going to be able to afford one in the near future, so it's more about what it represents than any actual real-world ride-wankworthiness.

Eh. If I'm going to look at bike porn, I like to fantasize about if it were my bike.

with wheels? I'd be surprised if a decent butted aluminum frame wasn't significantly lighter than the sortie frame.

lucklust 11-03-04 01:56 AM

13 lbs. The whole shebang, tires et. al.

ephemeralskin 11-03-04 05:53 AM

i have been wondering about that pic at yellowjersey. is it a 3rensho? look at the seatstays! i want to see more of that.

where does this info come from? I'd really like to see the spec it was built with. Couldn't find anything on their site.

mcsurf 11-03-04 01:06 PM

has anyone ever ridden the Felt? it is one fime machine and one's been hanging from the ceiling at my lbs for at least a year. hmmm...

FixinInTraffic 11-04-04 05:43 PM

I personally have not ridden a felt.

That's fun. But I couldn't get it under 15lb with pedals. The only wheelset they list currently is a mavic track clincher set. Did they have some zipp tubular wheels listed previously, or other components that saved 2 pounds??

edit: On the other hand, I got an airborne Torch with a 20-spd drivetrain (Record) down to 14.8lb with pedals. Price: a mere $7800.

That doesn't make me want one, but it ought to be possible to make a really light fixed gear. Track parts aren't typically very light though.
