so far so good. I haven't had a chance to ride it yet (needs air, and my pump broke, so it will have to wait until tomorrow), but it seems to be about the same size as my road bike. so glad I went with the 53cm, thanks guys. :)

Wow...that was quick!
Good choice, btw. I really dig that color. |
yeah, I was surprised by how quickly it got here. I am loving the color too, feeling better about missing out on the gold. haha

Hey guys.... newbie here as well and i'm thinking about picking up a kilo tt too. I'm 5'11", short legs (31 inseam), but long torso... I was thinking about getting a 55, but now i'm wondering if a 53 would be better? thoughts?

I'm sort of in the opposite position as most around here, it seems. I'm 5'10", but I'm longer legged with a 34" inseam. My 5'6" wife is actually a little bit taller than me sitting at the dinner table. It's weird.
Anyways, here are my fit calculator dimensions - The Competitive Fit (cm) ------------------------------------------- Seat tube range c-c: 55.9 - 56.4 Seat tube range c-t: 57.7 - 58.2 Top tube length: 54.2 - 54.6 Stem Length: 11.2 - 11.8 BB-Saddle Position: 80.1 - 82.1 Saddle-Handlebar: 52.5 - 53.1 Saddle Setback: 4.9 - 5.3 This says I should be riding a 58cm seat tube, but with a ~54.5cm top tube. The closest I've been able to find is a 58cm T1, which has a 55.4cm top tube. My riding buddy happens to have a T1 in exactly that size and it feels like it fits me really well. He's a little bit taller than me, but we are similarly proportioned. I want something a little bit on the lower end of the spectrum so I won't be terrified to leave it locked up and am looking at the Kilo. The 53cm has the top tube I'm looking for (54.8cm), but I'm afraid I'm going to have to raise the saddle so much that I'm going too much of a drop from saddle to the bars. The 55cm isn't long with its 56cm TT. I can't imagine I'll really feel a .6cm difference (compared to the T1), but could just run a slightly shorter stem if I do. I'm thinking the 55cm would fit me better, but I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance before ordering. Thanks! |

I recently got the Kilo tt stipper, and using the competitive cyclist "eddy fit", I determined that I should get the 55cm. BTW, I'm 5'11" (don't remember my inseam measurement). Anyway, going with my measurements, it looked like the standover on the 55cm would be a little "tight" with the eddy fit, but the top tube about perfect. I took the plunge on the 55cm and am glad I did. Standover isn't bad with shoes on, and I can always lean the bike a little when straddling the top tube. Thing is, if I had gone a size down, the handle bars would have been way too low for me (with respect to saddle height). I prioritzed top tube length over standover clearance and I'm glad I did.

I had the same size issues. I could ride the Schwinn Madison medium, and I am 5'8 with a 30.5 inseam..but the bar hit my crotch. On the small, I felt more cramped.
I tried the fujis and they rode smaller to where a 54 felt right to me up top but I still had the TT in my crotch by a little. I would rather be comfy when pedaling, so I took the 54 and dealt with the higher TT, which to me is not a huge issue. I also keep the seat a little lower than 5 inches as wll, but that could change since I am still fine tuning it. I plan to get a reccomend on the height from my LBS in a few days just to see what they think. |
