Hey all,

I'm trying to decide between a Windsor The Hour and a Kilo TT (brand new from BD). Is there anything about the Kilo TT that justifies the $80 price difference? What am I losing out on (if anything) if I decide to go with The Hour?

The tubing is nicer and the geometry is tighter on the Kilo. I've ridden both the Motobecane Track (same frame as the Windsor Hour) and the Kilo, and I prefer the Kilo.

Also, the welding is much nicer on the Kilo, the paint job is better and the lugged fork is much nicer. The Kilo frame is a bit lighter as well iirc. Some components, such as the cranks, are better quality on the Kilo. OTOH, the Hour will accept fatter tires, whereas the Kilo will not, and there's a lot of toe overlap with the front wheel on the Kilo, especially in the smaller sizes.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I don't have a problem with toe overlap, my road bike gives me quite a bit, so I'm used to it.

Also, does anyone know what the stock stem length is on the Kilo TT for the 50cm and the 53cm?

100mm if I'm not mistaken? That's what it looks like to me when I'm looking at it..

I don't have the bike with me right now but I would guess closer to 80mm.

I've heard so many mixed answers from 80mm-120mm. Ohhh boy. Does it not just have it printed on the stem?


In this picture it looks like it's like a 110mm+ but the picture is dated 2009

Just remember, a bd bike is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. I bought a 43cm Moto Messenger, which is the smallest size. I emailed bd to ask what length stem and width bar I would get. The bd guy emailed back that the stem would be 90mm and the bar would be 400mm. When I got the bike, the stem was 120mm and the bar was 460mm, both way too big for me. Oh, and don't believe their specs on clamp size either. It was supposed to be 26.0mm, but in fact was 25.4mm. So don't buy any parts before you get the bike and find out what are the true sizes and dimensions.

I've had both the Kilo (too small) and the Windsor (Too big) and I have to say the Kilo is a much better bike. Definitely worth the $80 difference....

But then again, this is coming from someone who thinks spending $80 on a stem is worth the difference (compared to cheap stems)

Stems can make a lot of difference so no worries your reasonable
