I'm looking for a narrower (40cm or less) nitto noodle.

I've already got mine. Nitto RB-002 bullhorns.

Just saw you're rb-002's and from that angle I WANT THEM NOW. But until I try them, these will remain my handlebars of choice

I love that you ask something specific and only one post addresses your question. I have the nitto randoneur and I think they aren't too bad. However, I have been considering some Major Taylor's or something like it.

I too want to try a some Nitto bullies, but in the meantime, the most perfect bar I have found is the Cinelli 65 "Criterium". They have a great curvy track shape without the redonck drop of track drops. This makes them more comfortable on long rides and gives me a decent "hoods" handhold for stoplights and climbing. And theyre Italian...

I'm also on the quest for the Nitto RB-002s. Or you guys can try them first and when you don't like them you can pawn them off to me for cheaps.

my ergonova's are pretty sweet, but i wish the drops would extend back just a bit more. maybe i'll try the ergosum or the wing pro.

i'm glad the words "drops" and "bullhorns" are interchangeable now.

Can anyone recommend some good handlebar tape? Maybe something low tack that doesn't leave a mess on the bars? Or maybe something with non-adhesive?

Close, but a little extreme. I guess I'm really just looking for narrower noodles. :(

Bontrager gel tape is what I use. Planet bike makes decent stuff too. Just DON'T get the Bontrager cork tape. There is a difference. The last time I used it the cork tape had the sticky stuff on the back, and wasn't nearly as stretchy or nice to use.

Automatically what came to mind when you said flared out drops were these for some reason. I don't think they come in UNDER 40cm, but certainly come at 40cm. I have never used them, but they are cheap and I have heard good things.

I like Bontrager nonadhesive gel tape.. They've got lots of good color options too.

If you want the classic look: See if you can find an older (pre 1995) set of nitto B105 bars. The older version has a smaller reach and drop than the current style. They don't flare back as much, but the bend is very similar to the noodle. A lot of the Japanese bike COs used them in the late 80s

If you are okay with a newer bar, the Ritchey biomax bars DO have the rearward sweep like the noodles. They have a shorter reach than the Noodles, and an ergo bend, but personally, I liked them. I think Ritchey even has them in wet white now, if that's your thing.

Also, if you can find a set... I really like the bars that specialized makes for the roubaix series. Great drop profile, and a little bit of rearward and outward flare, but nothing as extreme as the randos.

99% sure you can find all of the above in 38cm, although the specialized bars might only be available in 40cm.

PS - noodle bar and SRAM S500 levers is amazingly comfortable
