Columbus and Reynolds - How do you tell?

Is there a way to tell whether a frame is made of Columbus, Reynolds or some other good type of steel? For example, is there some kind of stamp on the tubing somewhere that indicates it is Reynolds or Columbus? When I look at old frames that have been repainted or have had stickers removed I would like some way to figure out if I have something good or not.

there should be a sticker. otherwise, it doesn't really matter. if the frame feels light, it's probably good double-butted cromo. if it's on the heavier side, it's more than likely straight gauge. also, the country of origin of the frame can sometimes be a giveaway.
