weight weenie scale

I was tired of using an inaccurate bathroom scale and always forget to order the $50 - $70 bike scale when buying parts online. Found a $30 luggage scale at Brookstone that works great. Dissappointed - I was hoping my Scott CR1 Pro was closer to 14.0 lbs

Scott CR1 Pro: 14.45 lbs as pictured

Cinelli Mash: 18.52 lbs as pictured (heavy wheels and steel track drops)

Motobecane Fantom Cross Uno: 21.72 lbs as pictured

LeMond still in pieces....

Couldn't resist, just swapped out stem, bars & saddle and weighed this version:
14.08 lbs as pictured:

For a CF conversion I would have expected lighter.

i know, especially since the Scott CR1 pro frame is one of the lightest: http://weightweenies.starbike.com/li...ype=roadframes

The 105 front brake is about .45 lbs
The wheelset is 28 hole velocity aeroheads with double butted spokes, speedcific front hub and ENO hub rear
Carbon SRAM Force crankset

The scott (size LG) is listed at 15.5 fully built with force and ksyrium elite wheels.Maybe the scale is bit off. That ENO can't be that heavy :D.

If u need a decent scale and do not want to spend bunch of money. U can pick this one up for 20 bucks and digital and has a nylon strap with a clip release :thumb:

DCV great looking bikes! looks like we ride the same kinda bikes. I have you by one pound with my converted Litespeed, at 13.5 lbs. So I know you can shave off more fat there! After I got my park tools scale I have been weighing everything lol.

xkillemallx16 05-29-11 11:27 AM

get some kinlins.

mikeetow 05-29-11 11:30 AM

Thanks, have been admiring your litespeed. I think I need a titanium frame next.

Are kinlins really a lot lighter than the aeroheads? I think I need to go with carbon tubulars like mikeetow to get significant weight savings?

Nuggetross 05-29-11 05:01 PM

enough joking around. put the gears back on the scott.

UCF Eric 05-29-11 05:21 PM

I doubt gears are going to go back on it. I think it looks pretty good, what bullhorns did you end up putting on it for that 2nd weigh in, they look comfortable.

nuggetross - very funny

UCF Eric 05-29-11 05:39 PM

if you want to drop even more weight, switch to tubulars, either full carbon or a low pro alum rim. also with the eno 28h hub, I actually had a hard time finding a 28h full carbon rim, that did not cost 700$ for one rim. (edge) Most carbon rims are 24 hole. But still prepare to spend some money.

Also if you are interested in my litespeed frame let me know.

FastJake 05-29-11 07:12 PM

I bought this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/40kg-88lb-1-410o...item5199745306

Couldn't go wrong for $3.38, it works just fine.
