144 pattern 44t Chainrings

So i am lucky or unlucky enough to have 144mm pattern Campy Super record cranks. But I need a 44t chain ring that fits this pattern, i have found some sites with 144pattern 44t rings but they are a f'ing 60bucks.

Anybody want to part ($) with theirs, preferably a new one or slightly used.

Thanks

I got a 46t FSA chainring from my LBS for like 30 bucks. They had to order it in, but I know FSA makes some with the 144mm pattern, because that's what I needed, too. 1/8th pitch and machined, what more do you need?

You're lucky you don't have the older 152BCD Record crankset.... you'll be spending even more.

look on businesscycles.com for new ones (yes most of them are expensive, i think blackspire are the cheapest).

ebay is also a possibility but can be hit or miss.

Ok, so sort of on topic... As someone with a 110 bcd (BMX & some mountain) crankset, why would I want a 144? I could see it being nice because a larger spider (as the larger bcd implies) means that there's less opportunity for the ring to be out of round. But otherwise I'm at a loss. I see Sheldon says 144 is an old Campy measurement. Is it just an artifact of Campagnolo's one-time dominance in the track market?

As far as I know, there's no real benefit... But if you have a sweet set of old Campy cranks, then you might just need to find a chainring that fits them...

its stiffness. the unsupported part of the chainring can flex with the massive torque of a track sprinter, thats why the BCD of track cranks are bigger then road cranks.

because the whole crankarm and spider is flexing?? I'm not sure I buy that.

For track guys, it's simply a matter of having a pile of 144BCD chainrings already, and not wanting to buy a new set of rings when they buy new crankarms, IMHO.
