i can get a motobecane single speed for a really cheep price. Does anyone have any reviews on this bike or company in general? if i put on a better pair of wheels and a fixed gear cog, would it make a nice fixed gear bike? thank you

My friends and I rode French bike boom bikes back in the 1970s. One of my friends had a Motobecane that was pretty comparable to our Mercier, Peugeot, and Gitane steel bikes.
I had a Motobecane Mirage Sport in the mid 1980s that I rode for about a decade as a daily commuter and weekend sports bike. Even raced with it (though never in a competitive position in the pack).
The name was licensed/sold to be applied to Taiwanese drop-ship generic bikes for at least the last decade. The current product bears no resemblance at all to the French manufacturer of the 1970s to mid-to-late 1980s.
It's a generic bike. Should be fine for whatever use you decide...

I like them. Wheels won't make them a nice bike, but they are a good bang for the buck bike.

I'm talking about putting on better wheels that this guy is hand making for me with a surley flip flop hub.

If you don't know specifically what model and year it is, and can't verify whether it has French, Swiss, or British standard parts on it, then you should absolutely not buy it.
