If you can still back-out, I would not get that bike. They are known for poor build-quality

Check your cog and lockring often, and buy a lock ring tool.

VintageDreams 06-11-11 09:39 PM

no I can't back out the order has been placed already, and I' not really looking for an over-the-top fixie just something to enjoy riding, anyway, it got good reviews on the site

vilano07 06-12-11 11:24 AM

i ride a vilano too, the frame and forks are great for barspins but none of the other parts are good, i have bought all new parts except for frame, forks, headset, and bottom bracket.... so in my opinion its a good bike if you are just going to ride around, but if u are going to do tricks.... you're going to need an upgrade

evilcryalotmore 06-12-11 11:53 AM

why does vilano always get so many buyers, They are crap :/ Just get a kilo that way you can actually ride the bike with out it exploding.

VintageDreams 06-12-11 05:48 PM

yeah I'm not going to be doing tricks :P
And if I ever do, I can upgrade, I didn't want to buy an expensive bike for my first time with a fixie

Hey guys, I just bought eight Big Shot bikes, are they any good? Thanks!

striknein 06-12-11 09:04 PM

To be fair, he didn't ask if they were any good. He just wanted to know if there were any best practices related to owning a fixed gear. Aside from the advice to not buy one, does anyone have any other advice?

Cheap fixed gear bikes are perfect for people who want to get into fixed gear riding, without spending a whole ton of scratch. It will at least work long enough for the guy to know whether to invest any more money in a better bike. What's the big deal?

I agree. My bike is a complete beater, but I love it. It got me hooked on riding again. Since I built it, I have yet to ride a freewheel and want to save up for a better bike. I say test the water with it and enjoy!

VintageDreams 06-13-11 04:07 PM

THANK YOU! I know I could of gotten a better bike, realize that now, but now that I got it I'm just going to use it as long as I can and get used to fixies

p.s. I'm a girl :P

I got my Vilano about a week ago and on my last ride I felt like the gear was skipping a little bit. Better check that, thanks!
