I have a stock FTP headset (Cane Creek/VP) at home that I can measure after work. What exactly should I measure? The OD of the bearing?

yummygooey 06-20-11 04:57 PM

Anybody still want me to measure or are we good?

Ok brb guise.

The bearing says 41.8x6.5x45degrees. I measured just over a 41mm OD with a ruler.

I feel stupid for not checking this before but, cane creek has a headset fit finder. It lists the Fuji Track Pro on it.

Just for anyone else looking

That's the angle of the bearings.

This is really confusing because it fits both Campagnolo (42.0mm) and Cane Creek (41.0mm)...

I thought campy spec was 45/36 degrees...

Probably just gonna go with the cane creek headset finder, atleast if its wrong then they have to fix it.

I just picked up a fuji frame off of the big nashbar sale, and was planning on removing my integrated headset from my current brandless frame. However... i cant get it out using the screwdriver/hammer method, and it appears as if it wouldn't fit the FTP anyways. SO. Can anyone link me to a headset that would fit the FTP? Also-- would i need any special tools?

Thanks in advance.

Do you have a fork with it? What specific model year? I suspect some may use a tapered steerer as is 30MM-26.8mm or 1.25" down to 1.125" ...

one more thing .. hammer and screwdriver, no-no ... if greased properly the bearing should fall out, if stuck use liquid wrench and soak for a few hours then try to gently pry the bearing from the frame. If it's super stuck you need to pry very carefully, you can deform the head tube slightly which could cause the headset to always feel like there is slight play in it and or make an annoying creak that will reverberate through the frame and annoy the F**k out of you. Just be gentle with these type of parts bearings are WAYYY cheaper than frames.

That said I believe this is the HS you are looking for ... at least according the Cane Creek page ... I could be wrong but I am almost certain. The fork you have is the wild card.?? .... I made an error I think this should be correct and someone else already pointed it out 45/45 42mm OD campy 30.0 crown 28.6 clamp dia

Has anyone confirmed if this headset will work? I'm trying to figure it out for the person who's buying my spare FTP frame.
