Noticeable difference between Sugino 75 and Sugino RD-48?

I'm in the market for new cranks for a bike I'm building up (slowly as funds trickle in) but am curious as to if there is a noticeable difference between these 2 cranks? I want to build this with nicer components, and while ideally I wouldn't mind some Campy records or even the 75's, they are both kinda out of my fund range. Would it be worth it to save for them? Also, how do the Sugino RD's compare to the SRAM 300? All similar?

I can but I'm a strong sprinter/ skidder and very experienced cyclist. To put it in a prospective, the difference between the 2 in stiffness reflects the price difference. I recently noticed my vintage campy pista cranks flex somewhat.

Kinda what I figured. I ride my bike daily, but wouldn't consider myself an experienced in any way, or at least not enough to probably notice that difference that warrants the +200$ price jump.

Sugino RD-48s are hideous.

I would go for S300s if you don't want to save up for the more expensive cranks.

Are they that hideous? I currently have some S300's on my current ride, but ironically I find them aesthetically unappealing.. Drawn to chrome I suppose, everyone likes shiny things

Yea, I still think they are ugly cranks. We can do this ugly crank debate all day long (e.g. TT + Andels, remember?).

@yg - My advice to you, get an enema. You'll feel a lot better afterwards.

Most any bike will flex at the frame before the cranks. And even if there is crank flex, it's essentially elastic, so you get back most of the energy with decent pedaling form. Really, unless you're a pro rider, I'd argue stiffness shouldn't even register in your decision.

Aesthetics are obviously up to you (chrome != polished aluminum, but whatever). If I were after a pretty crank for less cash than the Sugino 75, I'd look here. Then again, I just use salvaged SR cranks from a bike boom castoff.

For some reason I assumed stainless steel, my mistake. Those cranks are beautiful however.

Oof. Stainless is heavy. Now would you want a boat anchor?
