Calling all Del Pasado owners.....

What is your stand over hieght!!!

I work at an LBS and I'm getting a frame on sale...super cheap! But i don't know what size to get and J&B can't tell me for sure. So if anyone with a Del Pasado can take a tape measure to their bike it would be greatly appreciated. Frames come in sizes 59, 56, 53, 50. I have some good guesses but I don't want to have to try and resell my frame cause its the wrong size.

Okay first of all I want to tell you that standover height has nothing to do with whether a frame fits or not.

Secondly, Origin8 has the measurements of those frames on their website: https://www.origin-8.com/product_deta...set&cl1=FRAMES
The measurements are kind of hard to decipher so here's what they are, in order... frame size, ST length, TT length, HT length, ST angle, HT angle, chainstay length (I think), seatpost diameter.

From your sig, it seems like you have a lot of bikes already. I'm going to assume that you already have a pretty good idea what kind of bike fits you. I'm not sure if anyone who owns a Del Pasado can help fit one for you over the internet. Take a look at the numbers on O8's website, then you'll just have to make an educated guess.

I see a del pasado frame locked next to my bike all the time at school and i love the look of that frame. Anyone knows the weight of frame+fork?

Yes origin 8 has some measurements for their frames. They're right here too in this J&B catalogue right next to me. These are not the stand over hieght. Stand over hieght is what I want to know.

Secondly, When it comes to bike fit I'm pretty flexable, I have 40+ bikes, they differ quite a bit, each is unique. I don't give a whoop about bike fit.

Thirdly, Bike fit is very important on a COMPLETE bicycle. All I care about in a FRAME is if its going to have enough space between it and my bread basket. I will use a combination of stem, handlebars, seat and post to fine tune my bike fit.

And fourth, the purpose of this post is so I don't have to make an educated guess. I contacted a few people who are considered experts in the merchandise they sell and each gave my different anwsers regarding the information I seek. I want facts, not opinions, guesses or math calculations.

I seek a simple answer to a simple question, try not to make it harder than it is.

Iv been tossing around the idea of building one for a city commuter. Cheap and can fit 35c tires....hmmmm

the 2010 models now have a max tire size of 28c so get a 2009 while you can, they are on close out.

It's funny that you've contacted people you consider "experts," who gave you answers, then you think that some people on an internet forum are going to have better answers than they did.

I'm going to say this again. Standover height has nothing to do with whether a frame fits or not. The top tube length is going to be most important, followed by seat tube and head tube lengths/angles. Please don't buy a frame that doesn't fit and cobble a load of jackass stem and seatpost lengths on there just to compensate. To build a good house you need a strong foundation.

Listen, I wasn't trying to piss you off with my first post, I was just trying to provide some information because it seemed like you wanted it. If you want to be an ******* about it, then that's your problem.

I try not to sound like a jack ass but it happens sometimes. I appreciate your help in the way it was intended.

It's hard to find a frame that fits when you can't test it, hold it in your hand, put it between your legs etc. Catalogue shopping sucks. Everyone would agree with me.

Bike fit is a very personal thing. I've fit many a person to a bicycle they've been intrested. I'll do something along the lines of an optomistrist: "now which do you like #1 or #2?" It can be a slow process but Ive never disapointed my client/customers. Every once in a while though I'll get that one guy/girl, you know one, that says "I don't feel that comfotable way up high" when you've give them proper leg extension, or "I wanted a road bike but leanning over this far is hurting me, I'll take it." Despite any knowledge or wisdom what they feel is most important. Bike fit is very important for most people and I stress that a lot; that's why most of my sells are custom jobs. I however find any bicycle comfortable. I have a 54 cm road that I like cause its compact and light . I have a 61 cm road bike pushes me to my limits that I race with. I have a 55cm touring bike thats bigger than you think, it streches me out and relaxes me at the same time. I have a 21" hybrid that I beat around on that fast and strong. I have a myriad of ATBs in many sizes that I'll use just cause I like its color for that day. I have a beach cruiser that has reversed cruiser bars so you lean way over the front wheel to hold them.

I am limber, flexable and young enough, I suppose, to where if It has 2 wheels I'll ride the thing, as long as I can stand over it and not sing saprano. I'm luck that way I guess.

I'll probably sell this bike in a year anyway. I'm building this bike just because. And to say that stand over hieght has nothing to do with bike fit is....wrong to say it nicer than you did. Your not going to put that 4'8" girl on that vintage 65cm trek 400 frame are you?

I do have my favorite bicycles, they all ride different. If I wanted to get another bike that rides like those that I am used too or comfotable with I would'nt need to get another bike at all would I? I am hoping this fixie will be an exciting new ride.

And to comment on your other point, these wonderful people at my supplier do not have the frame in front of them, its in a box they would rather not open. Someone, some where, owns a del pasado, and a tape measure.

Please don;t tell me to get a bike that fits, when I say I don't care how it fits, cause well its true, and secondly don't tell me to get a bike that fits when I'd have to drive 200 miles to physical be in the presence of one. It's like a touring bike. Seldom can you find a shop to try out that Jamis Aurora or Trek 520 you can't decide between. You have to do your research and ask people.

I have to stop ranting now I must go test ride a trike pedicab....

LOL my supplier just called me and they were so worked up about not knowing the answer they took a few out of the boxes to look at them, and prop them up on some wheels. It seams that the 53cm is what I need.

It's amazing....

I said all my problem would be solved with a tape measure and they were. I'll be sure to post later in the month with a completed bike.
