So my father wants my Pacer frame and I'm going to give it to him. Which means I need a new road frame. Should I:

I haven't happened upon anything else. Local CL is dead.

Nashbar only has three sizes, which might influence your decision if you want anything but a 50, 58 or 60.

Nashbar has weird sizing and the 50 would actually fit with a 110 stem or so.

There's a Langster in my local classifieds for $250. Should I get it and flip it?

GENESTARWIND 04-14-13 05:51 AM

which langster? the original lanster or the rear sloaping top tube langser "yuck" or the newer track langster.

Training.Wheels 04-14-13 05:55 AM

If it's that city theme frameset, nah. I've seen barely ridden completes in my area (Cali) for like $300.

That exact one? Cause it's huge, you'll never resell it.

Point4ska 04-14-13 03:10 PM

Should I pick this up? http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/bik/3742928907.html

If one of the dents he states is on the downtube, it looks pretty bad. If the dents are truly nothing, try to go $150.

solipsist716 04-14-13 04:20 PM

Sweet baby jeebus, that saddle/backwards seatpost.

Hahaha, yeah...there are going to be some changes when/if I get that.

seau grateau 04-14-13 05:41 PM

That bike must report to the J/A thread immediately.

You`re right. It`s listed as a 58cm, but when you look at the geo charts, the 58 is the largest frame size they made.

Should I paint my fork?

It's currently seafoam green and every other part is black, though my stem/seat has some small white trim on it.

saxdiva 04-15-13 12:22 AM

No. Green is cool.

I'm looking for a bike to train on, mostly for tris... I'm getting tired of doing them on my 25 year-old aluminum roadbike. Should I get this, or go with a more conventional road frame? If it matters, I'm pretty short, so the 49cm frame and 650c wheels look promising.

You should ask in the tri forum. The SSFG forum gets a little turned off by tri bikes because people convert them to fixed and they end up looking terrible.

Currently riding with a boat anchor as my rear wheel, want to get something lighter and more silver.
Was looking at Open Pro's, tb-14's, CXP22's etc but couldn't find a decent price for just a rear wheel.

Then I found a
Mavic MA3 rim laced to a 32h Phil hub. No cog, but 2 phil lockrings. The thing looks pretty pristine, he's firm on $200.

The quality of the hub is above and beyond anything else I can find, and the guy says he's run MA3's on several wheels and never had a problem with the spoke holes cracking. Plus the single wheel market is pretty much tiny to non-existent so.....

Should I buy this wheel or keep looking and hope I find something cheaper or better for the same money?

Should I get a Garmin Edge 200 ($150), Edge 500 ($250) or the new Edge 510 ($300)? I'm about to get a new phone as well and I know the 510 can interact with androids and do some cool things. Any suggestions?

TheRealFaux 04-16-13 04:27 AM

If you're into using the cadence and heart rate features, go for the 510. If not, go for the 200.

The 500 has it too with like accessories as the 510... plus you should be able to find it fairly easily second hand on ebay. Preferably in a bundle with included accessories mentioned above.
Coming from a 800 which died twice, the 500 has near infinite battery life. Meaning expensive is not necessarily better.

Jaytron 04-16-13 03:14 PM

I haven't had my 500 ever come close to running out of batteries on a ride.

Maybe it's my Garmin telling me to HTFU

blondieyo 04-16-13 07:01 PM

Finding stuff like that on ebay second-hand in Aus is not as easy as it is in the states, I did also manage to find a coupon code for the website that gives me 20% off, so 20% off those prices again! I think the 200 is out of the picture, it doesn't have the possibility of adding cadence or heart rate monitors if I feel like it. I think I may end up buying the 510 because pretty.

Mumonkan 04-16-13 07:11 PM

I want a 510, i like the ability of live tracking from a computer
