Yeah I think MSRP for Steamrollers is pretty wack as well.

I would cannibalize your old wheels to make a new one depending on the rim quality from your s3x. Options are limited for 6 speed hubs so I would definitely use that one. Better to reuse than to buy more stuff :thumb:.
plus i kinda already want more range |
Oh well do that. I'm changing out my 6 speed for a 10 speed :D

I'm looking to replace my stock Kilo TT wheelset after 2 years of full-time commuting on them, and was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between these three Open Pro to Formula options:
32-spoke 36-spoke (why are these $10 less?) I don't know how many spokes Is there a 'best one' of the three? I'm about 150 lbs. and don't hop curbs on a frequent basis (not that I should...); so long as they can stand up to foul-weather commuting (Minnesota weather), I'm fine. I was hoping I could pick up a pair of Wabi GX410 wheels, but I don't think Richard has them in stock right now. :( Wasn't sure if I could find a sub-1750g wheelset (as Richard claims) for around $200 elsewhere. Thanks! |

It probably is a faulty frame, I either have to yank it out of the frame full force, and to put it back in i need to lift the frame above the wheel's axle then let gravity help me out to push the wheel into the dropouts. My 725 is a breeze to remove the rear wheel.
The leader also has some extra space when i put the wheel in before i tighten the nuts whereas the kilo is a snug fit. |
You could cold set your frame. Sheldon Brown has some great tips on that.

Sorry I keep doing this, people--this is the only resource I have for ascertaining whether a bike is a good deal or not, and as I mentioned, I don't know ****. What do y'all think of a Raleigh Rush Hour at $360?
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/bik/4069967496.html Unfortunate decals, but whatever. |
There's a craigslist thread.

really, the "craigslist" thread didn't seem more appropriate to ask about a craiglist ad? Oh America, you never cease to disappoint my expectations of people.
At least I didn't start a new thread. |

Assuming you're talking about this thread, it's all people posting stuff they find on Craigslist for other people to potentially buy. I want to know, "Should I" buy this bike that I happened to find on Craigslist...so this seemed better.
At least I didn't start a new thread. yes and yes |

should I put fenders and a pletscher rack on this bike? http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...ps73c5b461.jpg

you wouldn't like it it's a classic mountain bike conversion with 27 inch wheels and I can't imagine it would fit a much shorter rider very well since you would need to configure the bars so that steering would be squirrely again

New guy here. Looking for a cheapish single speed to cruise around town and do the occasional commute. Went to the LBS and rode a Pure Fix. Not impressed. Then rode a used 2010 Jamis Beatnik that he had. Was a bit worn, nothing major though, just a few years worth of use on the bike. Bike felt pretty nice. I'm completely new to these types of bikes. Guys is asking $360. Any thoughts on the bike or price? I liked the way it rode, but that was just coming off the pure fix, so maybe that's why it felt nice.

Thanks for the help. I tried searching prices of Beatniks and it seems that the new ones list for cheaper than the older ones so I was kinda confused.

OK, after hours and hours of trying to educate myself, I'm checking out used bikes in hopes of finding anything that looks good, but have narrowed my specific searches down to a Wabi Classic or a Specialized Langster. Found this langster locally. Guy doesn't know what year it is. Seems kinda pricey, but again, I'm new to this world, so WTF do I know. Any thoughts?http://denver.craigslist.org/bik/4096738195.html
