Should I watch the original Battlestar Galactica or the remake first? I watched the first couple episodes of the original but it is so hokey. Important decisions.

That's like saying I should trade my '75 Raleigh Pro Track for a 2013 Rush Hour.
The original is a classic! |

I've been looking for an SSCX bike and noticed the Fantom Cross Uno and the Nashbar SSCX are both around $400.
There's plenty to read on the FCU, but there isn't much on the Nashbar SSCX on bikeforums -- any opinions on choosing one over the other? Nashbar Single-Speed Cyclocross Bike Fantom Cross UNO I'll throw the Gravity Liberty CX into the mix only because it's the same price and I have the option to convert it or do a 1x8 if I wanted to. thanks! |

Need a lil help, please…
Since I got rid of my road bike I’ve been using my Italian semi-vintage, steel frame, full-on track bike as my everyday, big miles, and fast road group ride bike. I ride it brakeless with tarck drops around the neighborhood and styling on social rides. When I want to commute or do long distance with the roadies on it, I swap to semi-pursuit bars and clamp on a front brake. Due to an unfortunate incident this past weekend I have to replace my bullhorns. ATM, I am seriously considering going with a compact drop bar and hooded levers for riding this bike with a brake. But I am worried that running such a set-up on a true pista…will not only look ridiculous but also be an affront to the track bike gods ;) Should I do it? |
^^
All I got from that story is that you had an accident/crash riding bullhorns w/ a brake. The accident did not happen while riding brakeless with drops. I think you see where I'm going with this. |
Just put a cross brake on the flats. The track bike gods are benevolent and do not demand human sacrifice.

Should I snag a set of phils to open pros for 400? Just kidding yes.
|
Do they come with rim tape?

I have spent $300 on parts (great deals) for a track bike on the velodrome. I just need a frameset, headset, and seatpost. Should I get a Kilo TT frame or a more track racing specific frame? I'd like to keep it as close to $600 (or less) as possible.
|
You should not get the kilo tt frame. It is only a great deal as a complete. Buy a bare knuckle or a big block.
|
I'm very happy with my Dolan Pre Cursa. $350 for frame, fork, headset, seatpost, seatpost collar.
*It's an entry level frameset, but works perfectly for what I want out of it. |
I found a guy selling a 56cm (custom geo, they normally do 55cm or 57cm) Low// pursuit bike. I'm 85% sure the 56cm would fit me better than either the 55 or 57, which makes me think I should jump on it. Bike has never been built-up and he's asking $800 for frame + alpina fork.
Should I buy it to try out alu frame/carbon fork track bike or should I wait for something else? After having ridden only steel I'm curious about the alu/carbon combo (weight, responsive front end, snappy back end) and am thinking that although $800 is a lot, the frame will retain it's resale value if I don't like it. Best case the GEO is perfect, worst case I have to re-sell it. What do you folks think? Worth the $800 flier? I'm pretty sure that due to my location (Oakland, bay area) and what Low// is asking from new buyers (4 month wait, $1200 for frame only) that $800 for frame & fork ain't really that much to ask for from a lightly used Low// frame if it comes to that. |

The ride quality is going to be noticeably different than steel but not having ridden a LOW I can't speculate how it falls on the spectrum of alu frames. |
